The E3 board is getting crowded so I thought I'd break this conversation into familiar territory.
So, you guys were talking about new partners for Paper Mario 3DS? What about a Snifit? I could definitely see one shooting objects or whatever.
Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D give me high hopes for more N64 games getting the 3D treatment (c'mon Conker's Bad Fur Day and online Pokemon Stadium...)
Snake Eater remake...awesome. Kingdom Hearts remake please?

Mario Kart 3DS:
I love how the screens so far show just Mario and Luigi. Sure, the rest of most of the characters are a given, but still...

And no mention on this?: e3.nintendo.com/images/ctr/othergames/ssf4/4.pngAnd as for the Snifit idea for a partner, I perfer a Shy Guy that can change masks. Now THAT would be epic. Heck, customizable partners. Masks for Shy Guy, Wings/Spike Top for Goomba, Elemented Yoshi and even Caps for Mario, ala Super Mario 64. Badges are awesome and everything, but tell me a Fire Breathing Yoshi Partner or a Snifit Shy Guy in one battle, and then a Quake Stomping Yoshi or Pyro Guy in another Battle isn't an interesting idea...

I wouldn't be surprised if we get Super Mario 64 3D. Still, I already have it on my Wii's VC. OMG... what if we get Super Smash Bros. 3D? You know, the N64 game that is already on the VC? I am sure lulz will be had if that was the case and the fanboys BAWWW because it doesn't have their favorite characters from Melee/Brawl/SSB4. So, for Paper Mario partners, I already mentioned that I would love to see a Toad partner and a Shy Guy partner. But I would love to see like a Kong partner - imagine a gorilla who winds up his arm and punches enemies and slams the ground to stun all ground-bound enemies and throws barrels in battles and use the field ability to swing vines and climb up vines/chainlinks/ropes a la Donkey Kong Jr. I also would love to see a Tanooki partner - picture this, a raccoon dog uses tail swings to attack enemies and uses the statue transformation to render Mario invisible to enemy attacks and uses that transformation as a field ability to render Mario invisible like Lady Bow and Vivian did in the first two games. Aww, my ideas are just too epic for this game.

Three words:
Boomerang Bro. partner.
'Nuff said. ;D
I get the feeling that much of the first-party N64 library will be remade for the 3DS. We've already seen it with OoT and Star Fox - two of the system's biggest titles. F-Zero X isn't that far out of the question, nor is SSB64 or SM64. Hell, we might even see a Majora's Mask 3DS, which would certainly make my day!
One thing I do hope for is extra content for the remakes, so it's not just the same thing with better graphics and new controls. New levels in SF64, an extra dungeon in OoT, you get the idea.

If we were to assume they DID have recruitable partners, how exactly would that be accomplished?
In Dragon Quest Monsters (as Koopaul brought up), you convinced the monsters to join you by feeding them meat. Would Paper Mario use a similar system of bribery?

All that matters is Kid Icarus. Let's be honest

Not even close. Kid Icarus isn't even the most important title in Nintendo's list, let alone the whole thing. Hell, its not even in the top 3 of the Nintendo section. ...ok, maybe number 3. Just. But still.

For the 3DS, it is I'm going to brainstorm some possible partners for the New Paper Mario for the 3DS, as long as no one minds. I'm going to continue with my "customizable partners" idea, I liked it I guess Snake Eater is also a great thing for me, since I've never played it before (no PS2, EVER). Give me F-Zero X with Star Fox 64 3DS-esque graphics, new songs and stages and online, Pokemon Stadium Remake with online, and I will be a 3DS Fanboi (and I hate "Fanboi"-ism)...

If they'd tendered Kid Icarus off to an American studio I'd have been less excited. But Sakurai has done more to get people wetting themselves over that series than anybody else, and certainly "gets it" more than anyone else... And hell, it's Sakurai. If I didn't blindly love his creations, what kind of NinDB webmaster would I be! Regardless, for now I just want to see one running so I can gauge this 3D effect. I've read that the MGS demo showcases the best 3D so far, but whether it will stretch across an entire game isn't yet known. With Goldeneye, Ocarina and Star Fox... the N64 is certainly getting some sweaty man-love right now.

For the 3DS, it is I was referring exclusively to the 3DS (hell, include all Nintendo console games and slips well past the top 5). Paper Mario is more important. The promise of a new Mario Kart is more important. A sexy Metal Gear is more important. Other things are more important. I don't get the love for Kid Icarus. I mean, I'm sure this game will be good (Sakurai, I heart thee), but I don't understand why everyone has been clamoring for it for so many years. Ah well, whatever, enjoy it you weirdos.

We've been clamoring for it for so many years because we've been clamoring for it for so many years. It's a cycle: We want Kid Icarus this year, it doesn't come. We want it more next year, it doesn't come.
Something tells me Kid Icarus 3's gonna go Metroid on us, you know, spontaneously appearing out of the blue after a random shout-out then getting a big hat.
