Footage of the battle mode stages has is online, revealing Wuhu Island has also contributed a new stage, using a fenced off portion of the island town at night.

At 10:09 and on, you can see what looks like Pikmin 2's rocket, which in and of itself is probably a nod to it being in Galaxy.

In Rosalina's Ice World, near the end of the lap, in space, you can see the Starting Planet of Super Mario Galaxy, the one in the Gateway Galaxy. It's over the horizon, on the last turn. It can also be seen in many other parts of the stage, but that's where it seems more noticeable (at least for me). It can be seen twice in the introduction to the stage. Also, it seems that a Toad Brigade's Red Starshroom can be seen in that stage intro. It seems metalic and if seen from another angle (and the bottom screen's map), it seem that the top hatch is noticeable. And the houses strewn about the stage are similar to what an icy Dome would look like (hinted by the 3 stars above the doors, the center star being bigger than the other two). In Pirana Plant Slide, near the end of the stage, in the S curve, there are cardboard cut-outs of goombas and bushes. Not sure of the bushes, but I know there are cardboard cut-out goombas in Super Mario 3D Land (haven't bought the game yet). |

Noticed those. The planet's the Gateway Galaxy-planet indeed. (-lvl-)
Piranha Plant Slide totally is a huge throwback to SMB. Very well-done 3D rendition of it. I especially love the background: the clouds, hills and those trees, all in lovely HD.

I think the Music Park track is meant to be based on Wii Music. I'm believe that the giant music notes are from Wii Music.

Here's one, in Luigi raceway, a bunch of Mario characters show up in the audience near the checkpoint. Among them are Goombas, Shy Guys (red, green, and blue), Monty Moles, Boos, Toads (blue and green), Birdos, and Koopa Troopas. Can anybody see what else? There appears to be more...
Edit: There are definitely Hammer Bros. there too, I think I confused them for the Koopas.

Do Mario characters and things from the Mario world count as cameos? I get how the Wuhu island stuff does, but things like Koopas in the crowd.. not so much.
