Not mentioning the obvious in how at least one track seems to be set on the island from Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort?

Wuhu Island? Yep, I read that was going to be a track earlier today, and would appear to be the location in at least one of those screenshots.

It's probably also worth pointing out that PilotWings Resort also takes place on Wuhu island.

I didn't expect you to update the site that fast, so I never checked. @ Fry. Are you going to be listing all the 3DS tech demos on NinDB? Here's some footage of the Nintendo character 3D display demo. Which is filled with Nintendo characters.

Lots of updates been happening. I know, it's unexpected right? ;D
Years back I mentioned the tech demos for the DS and Wii when they were announced, but they didn't have pages or screenshots, they just had a brief description. When the system was actually released, the games replaced the pre-release demos page and only mention them when they amount to something (e.g. Wuhu Island).
This time around I don't think I will. I'll stick with just the games. The demos themselves haven't been well-documented anyway.

Donkey Kong Country Returns track, complete with tiki's, DK barrels, DK's house and an airship.
And for those that don't know, Retro Studios is helping out with track designs/co-developing this game.

We at the DKU forum recently found out that that one track was literally the only thing they did. I'm also willing to bet they provided DK's model but otherwise that's pretty much it.

But still the track isn't really a cameo if it's something that obvious I mean nintendo put it there for a track not a cameo.

A cameo is where elements from outside of the fictional universe appears in it, in this case elements from Wii Sport Resort appears in a Mario game. It doesn't have to be of minor importance.

Exactly, which is also why the Zelda level from Super Mario 3D will also inevitably count as a cameo.

It's a guest appearance of something from a different series in a Mario game. And therefore it counts as a cameo within the remit of NinDB.
Whether it's an obvious cameo or not doesn't really affect the fact that it's a cameo.
