After some bad posts recently debating ROMs (I see that the karma dropped one point), I wanted some advice on my still still-born Nintendo website. A few months back, I was talking about Blue Skies and Nintendo, a site that would display vintage articles and whatnot. A few things have happened/I have thought about: #1: I found out about Retromags, which pretty much ended talk of scanning vintage magazines (and I don't want to destroy my magazines for better scans) #2: I found out that my blog was getting a lot of its Google traffic was game-related. A lot of traffic was looking for information of Auchan, as well. I decided that I could shift the content to be "video games + some other stuff", very similar to how Magweasel or Kotaku operates. #3: The Internet video game website market is crowded, and I just don't think I can make really good content: a resource. I mean, |tsr's nes archive was amazing, but tsr had massive collections of stuff. Plus, I don't know Japanese. Do you have any ideas how I can make my website, you know, cool and original?

Has there ever been anything you've typed into a search engine and thought "Grr, I can't find anything!"
That's how I got the idea for NinDB. And frankly, Japanese websites are much better organised than most western websites, which leads me to believe they are ripe for the picking.

Good point. 1. The Nintendo 64/Super NES converter in this picture is most intriguing. Unfortunately, all Google turns out is adaptors that connect SNES and N64 controllers to the Wii (or USB). Tristar 64 isn't the device either. 2. I have struck lucky on a few Japanese websites, for a few screenshots of expansion packs of one of my favorite computer games (Yoot Tower, "The Tower II" in Japan). Unfortunately, I just don't know where to find such Japanese websites. I could transfer in the Kanji(?) for Nintendo and its brands and plug it in for Google, like my "test search" here. Then it's just Google Translate for the rest of the way. 3. I used to really like Nintendoland, but a lot of information is kind of inaccurate and has typos.

I finally created a simple webpage focused on games that are not released in America, cancelled outright, or simply had name changes in development. It focuses on Nintendo games. I created a prototype (read: very simple) version of the website (it will be in a list format) for testing, available here. Once I get some feedback, I will close the beta webpage and start working on the new page.

It's a little early along to give much feedback, Molecule. I think you need more content and structure before I can give you any sort of comments. The idea is novel, but Unseen 64 has that market pretty well covered (not to say you couldn't bring something new to the table). I'll check back.

Having import games listed and cancelled game titles is an extremely ambitious goal and ultimately not very fun. Rather, I'd like to focus on various Nintendo merchandise: also ambitious, but does bring a distinct level of "fun" into the equation.
