I'm working on a Tunage article for LVLs. covering the works of Koji Kondo. Alas, I'm not sure what to use for Super Mario Galaxy 2's music (having not played it yet XD ), so I'd like to hear some recommendations on what you thought was the best music from it. I'll pull together the most popular songs from here and use that to base my selections on the article. Yoshi Star Galaxy, Starship Mario and Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla are already included (as Kondo was the one who specifically composed them). Thanks in advance!

It's hard to pick music from SMG2. I'll choose the unused BGM, the Cloudy Court one and the final Bowser battle.

I picked the following songs out as the best in the game:

6. Puzzle Plank Galaxy
7. Glider
8. Melty Monster Galaxy

10. Hurry Up!
11. Bowser's Galaxy Generator
12. Final Bowser Battle
13. Staff Roll
I have highlighted the ones I think would work best in an article.
However, I also have the composer for SMG2 down as Mahito Yokota...

Among the new ones, the ones that stand out to my taste: - Bowser Battle, Final Bowser Battle: Epic themes. If you liked their counterparts in Galaxy 1, you'll like these too.
- Bowser's Lava Lair: Arrangements of "Road to Bowser" keep getting better and better.
- Bowser's Galaxy Generator: For those who wanted something different in a Bowser stage than the above arrangement, this was probably the answer.
- Sky Station Galaxy A: The awesome adventure song that is the main theme of this game.
- Fluffy Bluff Galaxy: Basically the new Gusty Garden Galaxy
- Space Storm Galaxy: Pretty cool, dramatic space theme.
- Slipsland Galaxy: It's so intense. All desert stages should sound like this from now on!
- Melty Monster Galaxy: Same as the above one, but spacey.
- Hurry Up!: The song for speed run Prankster Comets, also sounds like a boss song somewhat.
- Flip-Out Galaxy (mistakenly named Flip-Swap in my download): Very psychedelic... Interesting theme for one of the most challenging stages.
- Puzzle Plank Galaxy: A funny, country-like song to keep things diverse

Kondo was the overall sound coordinator, composing a few songs alongside that role. Yokota and Ryo Nagamatsu were the other composers. See here. Thanks everyone! I'll look into those! |
