It's been long enough... but I'm finally collating all of the work that's been done on the Super Smash Bros. cameos and putting it all on the website as part of a wider "screw it, just put everything online" campaign. The guide will not be complete. I am putting up the following information for each game, divided into series. Playable Characters Bosses Stages Items Assist Trophies Music Trophies Stickers Other Cameos (e.g. Mr. Game & Watch's Mario Bros. attack) The "Playable Characters" section will not feature alternate costumes or move origins immediately. However, this is simply to get this online with as much detail scavenged from earlier guides, earlier drafts and the help you guys have provided. Turns out, nearly all the work was done, it just needed formatting! The overall plan is a huge undertaking. I have created more interesting search pages, I will be creating filler pages for all games without one that can then be expanded upon, and I will be reinstating all cameos (and possibly Easter Eggs, but not for the first wave). I'm sick of NinDB being half-done

Neato. Every time you stop posting NinDB updates for over a month I'm wondering if you gave up or something. Good to know you're still getting things done, slowly but surely

Same as what 8bit said.
But really, Fry... sick of NinDB being half-done? Then you'll be sick of it for a while. While you update NinDB, new games pop out. It'll take some time to catch up.
The last update on the front page is the mention of the blog. Not necessarily a long time since then, but it somewhat sounds like the focus of the site is moved away.

In the intervening time, I've been rewriting pages for the SNES and DS/DSiWare, coming up with huge improvements to the navigation pages, rebuilding the cameos for the entire site and so on and so on. The problem I have is that most of it has to be done before it can go online. Oh, and playing some games and having a life. There's been a bit of that as well. Keeping up with new games really isn't a problem. There's so few of them these days that it's surprisingly easy to keep up. In fact, the "offline" site is 100% up to date. Can't promise that'll still be the case in another couple of weeks when the site magically updates, but at my current rate of production, it's looking promising. The blog and all that is merely somewhere for me to ramble when I don't want to ramble on the forums. It's not like I update that much either

I guess I can help with this, seeing as how I already had the most important tests for now. I guess I'll start with Playable Characters. Anything that I should talk about specifically? This is basically what I've got in mind:
Character "Birth Date" - Series
Special Attacks Basic Attacks Misc./Interesting Info (like ability to glide, wall cling, etc or how Snake made his way into SSBB) Alt. Costumes (did you mean the lack of Alt. Costumes Pictures or their origins?)
I was thinking about a little profile info, too. Nothing extensive, though. If one's interested in the character, then that person should just search for that character in the Database (maybe a link to that characters profile in their serie?)

We have a very in-depth post about the origins of the alt costumes, and I have the majority of the images as well. However, it's a huuuuge post and every one needs verifying (even the ones I've posted) and compiling into a list for me to work from. And that means taking out anything that is a "meeeeh, could be". The problem is some characters have so many little connections to other games that a simple character entry could become overblown. I'd like to keep it relatively simple. Character Name - Brief character description. CostumesRed + Blue (Red Team) | Origin | Green + Brown (Green Team) | Origin |
etc. Attacks(Includes all fighting or moving animations) etc. Final SmashDescription OtherStage Entry | Origin | Taunt 1, 2, 3... | Origin | Victory Pose 1, 2, 3... | Origin |
etc. That oughta do it. If you're not sure if something is a cameo or not, submit it for review here and we'll argue over it ;D

Ok. I'll start off with Mario, just to see if I've understood it correctly.
Btw, for anyone else who is interested in helping, BrawlBox can open up character files, so that way, you have a way of seeing each animation separately.
Also, by "all" fighting and moving animations... I doubt you mean things like "tip-toe", "slow walk", "walk", "faster walking", "jogging" and "running" separately. I'd expect something more like if there is anything worth noting, like Bowser's Running Animation (I'm pretty sure I've heard that it's from the SNES game SM RPG).

Have you thought about asking CrappyCaptureDevice for assistance with this? God knows the guy has done enough research into the subject- his latest Brawl History video is 28 minutes long. About Marth.
