It's been long enough... but I'm finally collating all of the work that's been done on the Super Smash Bros. cameos and putting it all on the website as part of a wider "screw it, just put everything online" campaign.
The guide will not be complete. I am putting up the following information for each game, divided into series.
Playable Characters Bosses Stages Items Assist Trophies Music Trophies Stickers Other Cameos (e.g. Mr. Game & Watch's Mario Bros. attack)
The "Playable Characters" section will not feature alternate costumes or move origins immediately. However, this is simply to get this online with as much detail scavenged from earlier guides, earlier drafts and the help you guys have provided. Turns out, nearly all the work was done, it just needed formatting!
The overall plan is a huge undertaking. I have created more interesting search pages, I will be creating filler pages for all games without one that can then be expanded upon, and I will be reinstating all cameos (and possibly Easter Eggs, but not for the first wave).
In the intervening time, I've been rewriting pages for the SNES and DS/DSiWare, coming up with huge improvements to the navigation pages, rebuilding the cameos for the entire site and so on and so on. The problem I have is that most of it has to be done before it can go online.
Oh, and playing some games and having a life. There's been a bit of that as well.
Keeping up with new games really isn't a problem. There's so few of them these days that it's surprisingly easy to keep up. In fact, the "offline" site is 100% up to date. Can't promise that'll still be the case in another couple of weeks when the site magically updates, but at my current rate of production, it's looking promising.
The blog and all that is merely somewhere for me to ramble when I don't want to ramble on the forums. It's not like I update that much either
I guess I can help with this, seeing as how I already had the most important tests for now. I guess I'll start with Playable Characters. Anything that I should talk about specifically? This is basically what I've got in mind:
Character "Birth Date" - Series
Special Attacks Basic Attacks Misc./Interesting Info (like ability to glide, wall cling, etc or how Snake made his way into SSBB) Alt. Costumes (did you mean the lack of Alt. Costumes Pictures or their origins?)
I was thinking about a little profile info, too. Nothing extensive, though. If one's interested in the character, then that person should just search for that character in the Database (maybe a link to that characters profile in their serie?)

We have a very in-depth post about the origins of the alt costumes, and I have the majority of the images as well. However, it's a huuuuge post and every one needs verifying (even the ones I've posted) and compiling into a list for me to work from.
And that means taking out anything that is a "meeeeh, could be".
The problem is some characters have so many little connections to other games that a simple character entry could become overblown. I'd like to keep it relatively simple.
Character Name - Brief character description.
Red + Blue (Red Team)
Green + Brown (Green Team)
Attacks (Includes all fighting or moving animations)
B + Up
Final Smash Description
Taunt 1, 2, 3...
Victory Pose 1, 2, 3...
That oughta do it. If you're not sure if something is a cameo or not, submit it for review here and we'll argue over it ;D

Ok. I'll start off with Mario, just to see if I've understood it correctly.
Btw, for anyone else who is interested in helping, BrawlBox can open up character files, so that way, you have a way of seeing each animation separately.
Also, by "all" fighting and moving animations... I doubt you mean things like "tip-toe", "slow walk", "walk", "faster walking", "jogging" and "running" separately. I'd expect something more like if there is anything worth noting, like Bowser's Running Animation (I'm pretty sure I've heard that it's from the SNES game SM RPG).
Nester the Lark: Here's an archive of results from the Everybody Votes channel. I found my poll question in the US English section for September 1, 2009.

nocturnal YL: Do you consider yourself to be more of a ... Romantic: 39.1% Realist: 60.9% This one, right? So… what's your own vote to that question? (I'd have picked realist.)

Nester the Lark: ^ At the time, I think I picked romantic. Not sure what I'd pick today. I feel like I'm somewhere in between.

nocturnal YL: Looking at the other members' last online date, I can safely say that this place is pretty much inactive by now.

Nester the Lark: Looking at an old post I wrote two years ago, I noticed I misspelled "threw" as "through," and now I'm angry at myself.

nocturnal YL: …Why am I still seeking gaming news when I have 7 games yet to complete and at least 2 more that I plan to get? (EDIT — Oh right, Ys IX has a confirmed release date. That makes at least 3 games I'll get later.)
Jun 14, 2021 10:18:41 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: My current plan is to play Atelier Firis DX now, which online guides suggest is long. Atelier Lydie & Suelle DX will likewise be long (longer than the original too, due to DLC, DX additions and I'll make the best items). I'll maybe play Ys Origin after.
Jun 14, 2021 10:28:43 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Not sure about what I'll play after. Another Atelier game will probably be out by then, either completing the Secret series or giving us Arland 5. Either way, I'll probably play those before going elsewhere. Dusk will have to wait for quite a bit…

Nester the Lark: Wondering if I should get Mario Golf at launch or wait a couple of months. I have so many other things to play that my gaming (and wallet) might need a little breathing room.

Nester the Lark: The problem with playing Hyrule Warriors and a modern Ys game at the same time is that even though the combat feels somewhat similar, the controls are completely different, and I get confused.

Shrikeswind: Yeah I'm here, but kinda vaguely. Sorry, I haven't had too much to say lately.

Shrikeswind: By the way, I don't know if you guys have been keeping up with OCR on YouTube, but apparently they're dropping an album for a game I grew up on, Jet Force Gemini. Really pumped; I'll post a review when they finish.

Shrikeswind: Or at least when my Top 3 from that game are on the Toobz. Just one more song to go.

Nester the Lark: I feel like I've been neglecting the forum more than usual lately. Been distracted by other things. I'll try to post something when I get the chance.
Jul 16, 2021 10:38:22 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I don't have time to make posts. Atelier Firis DX takes forever to play. When I'm not playing, I'm in a read-only mode, reading guides and watching (unrelated) videos.
Jul 17, 2021 13:25:38 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: On that note, I'll probably make a review on the whole trilogy, so it will be a while until I talk about these games in details here. I can say Atelier Firis DX has far exceeded my expectation and has taken over Totori as my 3rd fav.
