I was just sorta sitting around going through the site wondering how long it'll be before the next update (and subsequently feeling bad that I don't do anything to contribute) when I reached the WiiWare and DSiWare sections.
I noticed that that Nintendo released quite a few unique titles via these services and realized that although we at NinDB are technically game archivists, these games have no clear method of preservation.
Think about it: In the past, games were released on carts and discs. These can be bought and sold long after they're out of print. The same sadly doesn't hold true for digitally distributed games. Fortunately, Nintendo still produced a large amount of games via disc, but since our goal around here is to preserve every last facet of Nintendo's history, what are we to do about their digitally distributed games once the services are taken down?

Download the roms like with the Satellaview games? It's not like you need the Wii Shop Channel to actually play them so if you've bought and downloadded 'em on your Wii before the service is taken down, you're cool.

If someone hasn't figured out how to hack into a Wii and dump the roms or other files for WiiWare, they will eventually. so no worries on that count.

There are people that dump discs AND downloadable games. This is why you can see people playing Dr Mario Online RX on Dolphin. So no worries about preservation of downloadable games. It does sound strange, but software pirates are far better at preserving computer/game software than the actual producers.

There would probably be a good chance that Nintendo would allow WiiWare titles for download for the Wii successor, gotta remember that even the 3DS will have the DSiWare store (supposedly . . .)

Like Nintendo, masters of the re-re-re-re-re-release, would ever let these games disappear entirely anyway. They'll all be there in some Game and Watch gallery equivalent or something one day soon.

Underwear's hit the nail on the head on that one.
Rest assured, people are certainly bound to hack the Wii into getting these things even if their service does go out someday.
