So you'd rather be stuck with one ability the whole game instead of being able to use any ability via becoming a Helper? - Meta Knight, Dedede and Waddle Dee are always available, not only when Kirby already has that power - Meta Knight's own moves are diverse enough to be called his own character instead of being, say, a Sword Kirby clone - Galaxia solves all puzzle types (stump, fuse, rope, etc), making him even more useful than Kirby - I'd hope to see both, but if I must pick one group I'll gladly choose Meta and Dedede over them - The prospect of Dedede or Meta Knight riding on any one of the group is funny as ever

"- Meta Knight, Dedede and Waddle Dee are always available, not only when Kirby already has that power"
And who's to say they can't just change that mechanic? "- Meta Knight's own moves are diverse enough to be called his own character instead of being, say, a Sword Kirby clone"
Diverse? Literally every move he has in Meta Knight's Revenge is a more powerful version of one of Sword Kirby's moves.
"- Galaxia solves all puzzle types (stump, fuse, rope, etc), making him even more useful than Kirby"
Because they're totally going to preserve that for a four-player co-op game where everybody has to be on even ground.

Okay guys, let's put all this trivial nonsense aside and bathe in the awesomeness of some more gameplay footage:

Oh, looks like the healing kiss makes a return. And with it a lot of disturbing Kirby fanart no doubt

Dude, you really wanna play as a generic baddie, dontcha? It's not the fact that its a generic baddie. I'm just saying its ultimately better to give the 2nd, 3rd and 4th players the option to play as upwards of 20 characters/abilities instead of just three. The only other way I can see them alleviating this is if they can also play as Kirby (like in Amazing Mirror)

Dude, you really wanna play as a generic baddie, dontcha? I can see where he's coming from. The helper system meant that every player's character was as diverse as Kirby is. Having it this way means that player 1 can have whatever ability they want, player 2 always has Sword ability, player 3 always has Hammer ability, and player 4 always has... what do Waddle Dees do again? It's cool for fans of Meta Knight and Dedede, but from a gameplay perspective, it just means the game will be very dull for everyone except player 1. Kirby games are built around the diversity of their abilities, I imagine it'd get old pretty fast if you were stuck with the same moves all the way through. Just like that Super Star Ultra Meta Knight mode did.

I'm sure the other characters are going to have their own unique abilities that Kirby can't perform. I can see Dedede having all the abilities he's previously been shown (hammer, float, inhale, that jet powered hammer in Brawl and SuperStar Ultra). Meta Knight will also have all the unique sword abilities as well as flying, and his special powers from SuperStar Ultra. Then Waddle Dee...will...er...well, they might make him be able to ride baddies. Who knows!

Oh yeah, there'll almost certainly be unique movesets for those guys... but they'll be stuck with those movesets. Forever. Players 2, 3 and 4 will know everything their characters can do by the end of the first stage and will just have to sit and watch as player 1 discovers all the abilities and the movesets those abilities give them and what fun things can be done with them.
In Super Star and KDL3 those were discoveries you made together. I can't tell you how many times we had a "Whoa, check out what this does!" "Where, give me it! Whooooooooooa" moment in Super Star when I first played through it. In the new game it'd be more like "Whoa, check out what this does!" "That's great. Well, look... I can still hit things."

For those who don't know what Waddle Dee does, he is a spear fighter. With the ability to use the spear as a propeller.

Think that means Kirby can get a Spear ability somewhere in this game? Meta Knight and Dedede are both largely derivative of the Sword and Hammer abilities, after all.

That's a possibility, although I think it is unlikely. Spear Waddle Dees have appeared in the past and they gave no ability, but who knows if this game will change that? The Weapon Triangle is now complete, lol.

So are you guys going to complain and moan about stuff in a game before it has been released that we don't fully know of yet, or at least be thankful that there is co-op in the game in the first place?
In Kirby Super Star, wasn't you co-op partner just one character with one ability?
If you think about it, if 2 people are playing co-op the 2nd person would be able choose each of the other 3 characters to play as.
Also thread title might need to be changed . . .

In Kirby Super Star, wasn't you co-op partner just one character with one ability? Nope. Your partner could be changed to any ability character on the fly, by having Kirby hand them a new ability, having them grab an ability powerup, or having them touch an enemy or object with a different ability to theirs when their health was critical. In that way the helpers could actually take abilities from minibosses before defeating them, so they were even more versatile than Kirby himself. EDIT: Totally missed this. So are you guys going to complain and moan about stuff in a game before it has been released that we don't fully know of yet, or at least be thankful that there is co-op in the game in the first place? I dunno how thankful we're supposed to be that a feature that's been in Kirby games since '96 is in there, but... If they're going to do Co-op, I'd rather they do it right and have all four players on equal ground like NSMBW and all previous Kirby games have, rather than favouring player 1 and shafting the others, like Sonic games do.

Yeah, and here I thought the gameplay clip I provided would cool you all off. Guess not. So far, this game seems to be what NSMBW should have been. Okay, maybe that's a stretch, but a playable Waddle Dee does seem on par with the playable Toads, to say the least. Surprisingly, there's no artwork for this game yet...
