And Clefable & Gengar is really clever. Hell yeah it is. And I never noticed that picture of Doduo taking a shit in old Hitmonchan's sprite!

They released Red/Green on the same day, and Blue a few months later. Don't get confused now guys! Some cool facts in there I didn't know. I think I'd like to see a source for a few of them, but most are believable enough

Found these on TV Tropes related to Black and White... - The animated portraits that appear in some conversations bear more than a passing resemblance to cutscenes in Game Freak's obscure Super Nintendo game, Bushi Seiryuden.
- You have to find seven sages throughout Unova. It sounds so familiar. What possible motive could Nintendo be aiming at here?
- Like the previous games, there are a few shout outs to the MOTHER series, but this gen there an exceptional amount of MOTHER 3 references in particular, like the Dark/Dragon type line, the theme of Nature vs. Technology, an overall darker and edgier atmosphere, and N's Farewell theme at the end of the game has fragments of MOTHER 3's Love Theme in it. It also has pieces of A Letter to you, My Sweet from the same game.
o The "Waitress" trainer class strongly resembles Tessie, an NPC from Mother 3. o To top it all off, some of the new 'mons visibly resemble MOTHER 3's chimeras... o That mole Pokémon's pose looks a lot like the Reconstructed Mole's. o Its pre-evolution bears a strong resemblance, particularly in its facial expression, to the Mischievous Mole enemy. The ordinary mole "evolves" into a Chimera, just like in Mother 3! o The Surfing theme sounds very similar to the Green Train song, as well. o The "Round" move is reminiscent of the first MOTHER. (Which makes sense, since Creatures, Inc. worked on it.)
- Four of the legendaries are based on The Three Musketeers. (If you're wondering why there are four guys based on a trio, read the book. Or at least the trope page.)
- Pawniard and Bisharp are likely based off Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and/or Power Rangers.
- Shauntal of the Elite Four may be a shout out to Velma of Scooby Doo fame, due to her similar appearances, fascination with ghosts, and intellectual disposition.
- Several shout-outs to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Excadrill is a shout-out to Simon, and Krookodile has Kamina's shades. Druddigon's Japanese name, "Crimgan," translates to "crimson face," which is roughly what "Gurren Lagann" translates to.
- Listen closely to the sound for Trash, it's the start to the Super Mario Bros. theme.
- It's probably a coincidence, but one of the Trainers you fight in Castelia City is identified as Harlequin Jack.
o Another probable coincidence: a scientist in the Poketransfer Lab on Route 15 remarks that you have "all the Gym badges. All of them".
- One of the trainers you can battle in the Battle Subway is called Rich Boy Rupee.
- Two of the trainers in the Ground-type Gym are named Isaac and Felix.
Some of these are just retarded speculation and guessing, but the Isaac and Felix trainers certainly catch my attention...

More - Throhs always travel in packs of five. There are (usually) five people in a Judo team.
- Sigilyphs are said to have once guarded an ancient city, which explains what they're doing in the Resort Desert.
- When a Pawn (Pawniard) reaches the other side of the chessboard, it may be promoted into a Bishop (Bisharp).
- Elgyem and Beheeyem, the alien Pokémon. Elgyem is a Little Green Man, whereas Beheeyem is a Bug-Eyed Monster. Now say the names out loud.
- The constantly-bickering red and blue Basculin have been compared to the Bloods and Crips.
- The state shell of New York is the scallop. See that thing on Oshawott's chest? And that region you're playing in?

The last few games had somethingawful references so I'm not surprised the translator had some more fun this time around.
The Mother stuff is total bullshit though. And do they even broadcast Scooby Doo over there?

Some of those are kind of silly. Also it always annoys me when someone says that Cubone is a baby Kangaskhan.

some of that stuff blew my mind. Like the Legendary Cats crests thing- I had never even thought of looking for that.
The Alakazam one is interesting, as he does sort of look like the demon Baphomet, who's head is styilized into an inverted pentagram.
Both Psyduck ones are funny- the name one interesting as well.

I'm sorry... but whenever I look at one of those things my reactions tend to just be either "these guys didn't notice that already?" or "This shit makes no sense" XD Except the Clefable-Gengar one, that's actually pretty cool. But seriously, Magikarp into Dragonite? Just because Dragonair is vaguely the same shape as Gyarados? What about the whiskers?! Kangaskhan was initially intended to be the final stage in the Cubone line, but that got cancelled out later. You've been lied to, Boo. There's nothing to suggest that other than the fact that some fans think they look similar. Which, given the fact they were designed by the same person, doesn't mean anything.
