Yep, Star Fox 64 3D for me too! Although I disagree. In nearly every graphical respect it is an improvement, but it doesn't iron out any of the problems the original game had. Such as: LengthLooking at my gameplay stats, it took me less time to clear the game and open all the stages than it took me to beat NES Metroid and GB Donkey Kong... Little over 3 hours in fact. There is no new content aside from a mode where you can replay any level you've opened and earn medals. CutscenesFor some reason they slightly updated the Star Fox team's character models for the beginning and ending cutscenes, but they didn't improve their animation, so they still move like boxes. Voice ActingIn the original game, the voice acting wasn't great but it was there and we got used to it. While it would be weird for them to sound any different, I would have appreciated more effort here. The voice actors sound like they're trying too hard to match the exact pitch of the original voice actors and it comes off sounding forced and stiff. There are some exceptions here: - Fox's "Father?!" during the good ending doesn't sound as goofy. - Wolf seems to have a new voice. I like it! He sounds more refined. - Andross's laugh has changed. For the worse... Oh God it's so dumb... Now, don't get me wrong, it's still a good game. But it's a short game. I remember reviews saying that in 1997, and these days it doesn't feel any longer. The in-game action is still great and the graphical improvements to each planet really add something. The planet surfaces in particular look stunning. Rock looks like rock, water looks like water, water being rained on blows your little mind! I found aside from a few key moments, the 3D effect just stopped being noticable during the action. I was concentrating too hard on shooting things. Then there was Sector Z, where the little particles floating in space looked like drops of something on my DS screen. Nearly blew up the Great Fox trying to wipe them off I'm really torn with this game. Ocarina was remade and it was great - the upgraded graphics and 3D effect made Hyrule feel all the more special. But this game needed more smoothing round its edges... - The character model animation for walk cycles should have been improved - Voice acting should have maintained the character voices we know, but allowed more freedom in the performance of the actors - The music should have been orchestrated, as it was clearly trying to be in the original - a real missed opportunity - After clearing the game, unlock a few new hard levels using the same mechanics. Maybe a new Blue Marine and Landmaster stage too... Extend the length of the game a bit and challenge people who played the original.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know whether my Nintendo Power - GB Memory Cartridge is fake? Recently, there was a Nintendo Power cartridge up for sale on eBay. I believe that it was probably one of the 'pre-written' versions that could be purchased as opposed to blank cartridge versions, as there is a sticker for Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land on the front of the box. I won the auction and purchased the item as part of a relatively small Game Boy collection which I'm starting, though I'm a little concerned about whether the item is legitimate, because on the back of the cartridge it says 'MADE IN TAIWAN' instead of 'MADE IN JAPAN'. However, it also says 'MADE IN TAIWAN' on the back of the box next to the bar-code (DMG-WJA-JPN: T4902370504293). There is also a 'LAWSON' 2500円 sticker on the back of the box; Lawson being the Japanese store where you used to be able to buy the cartridge and put games on to it via a Loppi machine. Does anyone else have a Nintendo Power GB Memory Cartridge, or perhaps one of the other uncommon white Game Boy games like Game de Hakken to confirm whether they say 'MADE IN TAIWAN' on the back? The other, slightly unusual thing about the cartridge is that it doesn't have Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land on it, and it doesn't boot up with the Nintendo Power menu and instead goes right to Taisen: Tsumeshogi (it was a Japanese chess game exclusive to the service). Though, this probably just means that the original owner deleted Wario Land after downloading the new game, albeit it still has the manual for Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, without any other inserts except a single yellow sheet (I'll scan it in) , the white cardboard insert for the cartridge, and extra stickers. Edit: Seems like they were (well at least the SF Memory Cassettes) manufactured in Taiwan to reduce the price. Source: Japanese Wikipedia

Oh wow, finally have a reason to post in this thread
Kirby Return to Dreamland. So far better than most reviewers make it out to be. Very Super Star like, though apparently there are fewer powers to kick ass with. Uber powers being in specific areas only with a time limit's a bit of a letdown, but that's just because I was expecting some kind of level system like Super Ghouls and Ghosts.
Oh and Kirby Mass Attack's getting released this monday, totally getting that right away

I'm still waiting for Kirby's Adventure Wii... But I have just bought Kirby: Mass Attack! It's a bit odd - another Epic Yarn style spinoff - but I was enjoying it until I unlocked the pinball game... Now I can't stop playing the pinball game It's like they've made a whole new Kirby's Pinball Land! And I love it! Other recent Nintendo product purchases I guess would include the awesome "History of Link" poster from the London Zelda Symphony. Big and beautiful. I will no doubt get it framed ;D

I got that poster with the Zelda three pack last year. Still haven't put it up, though I have the wonderful Twilight Princess poster framed.
I also have that huge 25th Anniversary poster. The painted one that's six feet long. It's awesome.

Now I can't stop playing the pinball game So true. The minigames there are so excellent that they take attention away from the main game! I'd have wanted to see a "start from stage __" feature in Kirby Brawl Ball and Star Patrol EOS, seeing how those games are quite long. I'm now at 60% progress of the game, and it's getting more apparent that this game is absolutely worth getting. Destructiod said the game is worth a 10/10 and its only flaw is in the music, but I'd say even the music is quite good - it's just that a minority of the music don't sound as good; but as far as the "main" music (mostly stage music) goes, it's great. EDIT - I mean 60% in the Wii one; I'm at some 80%-ish at Mass Attack because it's so difficult to get a 100% in that game. Until these two games, I don't usually associate "Kirby" with "difficult."

Kakurenbo Monster Tactics and Trade & Battle: Card Hero, it came with some of the trading cards and a guidebook how to play the card game (in Japanese). Unfortunately the internal save battery on Card Hero is dead so what I'm planning to do is back it up with the "Game Boy Mega Memory Card", which I also need to do with Pokémon Crystal and Silver, don't want to risk replacing the battery manually. I took them to a retro game shop for battery replacement, but they must have put in a cheap battery because the save died again in a couple of weeks.

Any recent Nintendo purchases as of late? I recently found a copy of Zoda's Revenge: Startropics II for the old NES at an old collectibles store for a low price (along with some other NES games), and finally found a copy of Balloon Kid for the old Game Boy (along with other Game Boy games) after several years of searching for one.

I recently bought Face Training for Nintendo DSi for £10.00.
In another store, I saw Jam with the Band going for £2.00 and Super Princess Peach going for £15.00 but decided not to buy them. I'm not really a music person, though I think I should have at least got Jam with the Band at that price.

I'm got Last Window, headin my way! Pullblox is pretty well packed with content and difficult puzzles for such a simple idea! I have made a pretty cool puzzle too ;D Will share shortly! Question, knowing that user made puzzles can be turned into QR codes, could one make a puzzle that forms the shape of a (simple) QR code?

I'm got Last Window, headin my way! Enjoy it! It's freakin' awesome! Question, knowing that user made puzzles can be turned into QR codes, could one make a puzzle that forms the shape of a (simple) QR code? You very definitely could, but there's no guarantee that the QR Code you get would be the same (which is a shame). However, you could in theory make one that points elsewhere. I've just downloaded 10 GBA games to my 3DS. This oughta keep me busy!

The first two Donkey Kong Countrys on the Virtual Kongsole. Beat them both over a couple of days. Bizzarely I'd never played the SNES versions of either of those games, I'd played and beaten the GBA versions of them both (as well as the GBC port of DKC) but not the original SNES versions. It's really unbelievable how terrible the GBA versions look to the SNES ones.

The GBA version is much less stunning in terms of graphics. Sprites don't blend into backgrounds due to the colour difference, and the colour depth is nowhere as deep. And it's not like if the GBA cannot handle good graphics (for Mode 7 and 256-colour sprite example, see Golden Sun 1, 2 and Mario Golf Toadstool Tour; for pseudo-3D example, see the GBA version of Crazy Taxi even though it's really bad compared to most versions). Although it does make sense to increase contrast to cater for the screen of the original GBA.
