During the 10th birthday celebrations, a higher than expected number of you mentioned coming to NinDB when it had the Nintendo All-Stars section.
Honestly, this wasn't a section I had considered reviving, but the number of memories associated with the site have made me rub my chin in reconsideration.
If I were to revive Nintendo All-Stars, what would you like to see?

Nintendo All-Stars, of course! Character illustrations with a brief history. If we're crazy enough, maybe we can even go into the gameology for each of them.
I prefer seeing less popular characters more than popular ones. Doesn't matter who that is either, from the Ice Climber condor to some random Japanese-style game guy (How about Robert from Fire Emblem 5?) to the internet-famous Error, anyone can be good material.

The problem is there are so many characters. The ones that had entries in the past were:
Bubbles (Clu Clu Land) Tamagon (Devil World) Muddy (Mole Mania) Little Mac (Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!) Popo (Ice Climber) Marth (Fire Emblem Series) Mike Jones (Star Tropics) Takamaru (Mysterious Murasame Castle) Link (The Legend of Zelda series) Mr. Stevenson (Gumshoe) Fox McCloud (Star Fox series) Pit (Kid Icarus series) Captain Syrup (Wario Land series) Professor Hector (Stack-Up/Gyromite) Pokémon Trainer Red (Pokémon) Mike Anderson (Battleclash) Ness (EarthBound) Samus Aran (Metroid series)
And I can never remember if I ever wrote these up or if I just did the artwork for them:
Mario (Mario series) Jill (Drill Dozer)
Obviously my artwork has greatly improved since then, and I have drawn some of these characters dozens of times in the interim period. Many of them have even appeared again in new games.
However, the articles were essentially long character bios, and if I were to do them again I'd want to cut them down in size a bit. There's also a few that I'd rather pair up (Popo & Nana, rather than just Popo).
The game lists were a pain because some characters needed updating horribly frequently. I'd probably stick to some key titles.
If you have any more ideas though, keep 'em comin'!

Awww yeah, I'm all for this It'd be a way to provide a bunch of faces to the big list of Nintendo franchises on NinDB. A page where people can click on thumbnails to learn more about the different main characters of Nintendo's longass videogame history, both famous and forgotten. And ofcourse, with SSB4 coming up in the not that far future, this would be great timing to do something like this. Expose more people to the huge amount of characters from Nintendo's rich history I'd say use your mighty art skills and stick to main/playable characters of Nintendo's insanely huge game catelog. Personally I'd think these would be the most interesting, especially the lesser known ones. Ofcourse the likes of Zelda and Koopa Kids deserve a page too, but I'd save regular allies/villains for later on. Drawing, writing the short bios and linking to the different games they're from takes a lotta work (even with the help of the awesome artists/writers posting here), so I'd say finish up the big cameo task first before starting something like this

I remember a while ago you wanted to make a detailed site that covered characters and merchandise and other stuff that was beyond the scope of NinDB.
I would support the return of the All-Stars, but I think perhaps it should be more like the trophies from smash. A picture with a short and succinct description would be better than rewriting a whole novel for each character.

I'd rename the section "Nintendo Heroes" or something and just have one main character for each series (save the ones that lack characters, obviously). Would be funny to see the eventual articles on the dog from Duck Hunt or the girl on the Volleyball FDS case.

I like Nintendo All-Stars as it's an official-ish name. In Japan the first Smash Bros. game was preceded by "Nintendo All-Stars" and then you have Super Mario All-Stars. Also, unlike Nintendo Heroes, there's no limitation on what I can do. I could do villains or supporting characters as well. It'd make it more like trophies, but then that's not necessarily a bad thing. I totally agree on writing short, succinct descriptions rather than the massive (mostly tl;dr) bios I did before. Trophy-sized descriptions could work, although I won't limit myself unnecessarily. To be honest, this is something I want to do for game pages as well, as some have too much text and some have none... but now I'm getting off topic. The biggest issue is that characters like Samus or Marth had very long, convoluted backstories... and some of it was interesting. But maybe I should leave that up to the game pages. BD... Not sure what I can learn from those cards... They don't have any info on them. And I can draw better than that now

BD... Not sure what I can learn from those cards... They don't have any info on them. And I can draw better than that now Ah, I think you misunderstood me there. I meant that as in what examples of character choices it uses. You'll see that they're going for the most important things of each series, and anything else that particularly stands out as well. (They're all on the artist's page individually, each with their mini-specs on each subject in the descriptions.) But if your intent is all A-listers only, then disregard that. The biggest issue is that characters like Samus or Marth had very long, convoluted backstories... and some of it was interesting. But maybe I should leave that up to the game pages. How are you going to go about it with the likes of, say, Captain Falcon?

The problem with using that method is you end up stuck on one or two games with loads of characters. I need to mix it up a bit rather than doing all the fighters in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out for example.
That doesn't mean I won't get to them. My intention isn't just to do A-Listers, but to focus on the main heroes, villains and characters from a wide range of series to start with and then perhaps go back and start working on some other characters. It could also include iconic characters, such as Captain Falcon, or the viruses from Dr. Mario, for example.

Oh you're going to be drawing these all by yourself. That's a load of work. Oh this reminds me I made something similar with the DK cast: koopaul.deviantart.com/#/d332ske

It's a lot of work, but not an unmanagable amount. Like I say, I already draw Nintendo characters all the time, so it'd be a good excuse to finish some. Especially if I stick to one or two a week or something.

Maybe if you could get support from us while trying to do the characters' information pages and such?
Oh, and I'd wish to see Lip as one of the Nintendo All Stars.
