Random question for you all, but I haven't found an easy answer to this simple question.
In the built-in DSi Sound and 3DS Camera/Sound software, there's a little green and yellow budgie who gives you tips on how to use the software.
Does anyone know if this budgie has a name?

That bird, yeah? I'm afraid he doesn't, really. There have always been many things in several Nintendo software that go unnamed anyway. What to do, what to do...

Ask the wise Sakurai to give them names, maybe? That's how Mr G&W came to be.

Mr. G&W didn't even EXIST until Melee, as Fry has pointed out several times in the past.

I pulled out the 3DS manual for the first time, and sure enough they just refer to it as the "budgie". I checked the DSi manual as well.
He does say "Chirp" all the time. I was kinda hoping he was called Chirp the Budgie ;D
Interesting that it's called Parakeet in N. America though... That'll make these pages trickier to write. Stupid regional variations!

However, I don't remember at all it introducing itself as "parakeet" in the 3DS software (if it ever did, anyway). Maybe they forgot to translate that dialog, which I'd say would break the tie. But I'd rather see an American confirming it. Anybody?

This name might sound stupid, but oh well.
Parakeet The Budgie.

This name might sound stupid, but oh well. Parakeet The Budgie.Or...Budgie the parakeet...as parakeet is a type of bird and a budgie sounds like something you'd find in a diaper. EDIT: Just found out there's a bird in Australia called a Budgerigar. Is that where you guys get Budgie? Seriously, what's it supposed to mean?

Budgies are Australians-can't-be-arsed-saying-the-whole-word-so-we-just-shorten-it-and-add-an-'ie'-sound-to-the-end slang for budgerigars, which are these bad boys. Fun fact: I had a pet budgie that looked when I was little like that which I called Articuno. AND IT ALL COMES FULL CIRCLE ON THE NINTENDO FORUM. Other fun fact: We call speedos 'budgie smugglers' here, because the bulge in them makes it look like you are 'smuggling a budgie' inside your underpants. Though i my case, its more like smuggling an emu, ho ho ho.

We call them budgies here too. It's rare to hear anyone say budgerigar in full.
But this is the first time I've heard of budgie smuggling! You Australians should be in charge of all development of the English language from now on!
Just found out the yellow box in AR Games is called Mr. AR... because that's what he's called when you catch him in the Fishing game. I'm guessing he's ARkun in Japan or something.

There's silhouette cats in the Japanese version, but they were replaced with a 3D owl in the Europe/US version.
Maybe they are supposed to be the same as the one's in the Photo Channel. Huh. Hadn't really clicked that before.
