The original was probably rushed to capatilise on the 3DS early adopters wanting games. Still seems a tad odd that XL still doesn't appear to have stuff relating to popular shows like Ed, Edd, n Eddy.
The justification for Adventure Time (and other recent shows) still not appearing, could be because of long game development time.
Still great to see Captain Planet in the video though. (not really a spoiler unless your playing the 3DS version or have already watched the XL trailer).

Hrmm...the 3d models look...bad. This woulda been much cooler as a sprite based (or hi-res models ala the Street Fighter HD games) brawler. Seeing the Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack in 3D is just awkward

I still think it's weird seeing Captain Planet appearing in a CN fighter. Especially since he's about the crappiest super hero on the planet, next to Birdman.

Reviewing what I saw.
Pros: Hoss and Scotsman, team-up attacks, Workout Him, Ben+Fred Grislies Cons: No Eds, Toga Johnny
All in all, my thoughts are neutral as of now. Obviously, this is trailer-review only.

Wait... this is Super Smash Bros. with Cartoon Network characters? Well, it doesn't look that bad. I recognize most of the characters despite not knowing their names... but what's more important is how good the gameplay and controls are.
Now, if they will make a Super Smash Bros. game with Hanna-Barbera characters... ;D

The reason Captain Planet is in the game is because he was created by Ted Turner, who later created Cartoon Network. It's sort of like a mythology gag. He still sucks though. ;D

Either way, it's so cool seeing Captain Planet in action once again. That was my childhood!

I'm with you arcadenik - looking at the list of characters for Punch-Time Explosion XL was like taking a stroll down memory lane. I'd suggest that anyone looking forward to this game, or any fan of Cartoon Network in general, should watch the developer's diary from this game. Good stuff! Check it out here - punchtimeexplosion.com/punchtime_explosion_xl.phpI'm helping Cartoon Network spread the word about this release, so let me know if you have a question. --- Derek
