Oh look, Satoshi Yamamoto drew Ruby without his hat. The debate is over, it is in fact...just a really stupid hat.

Apparently there's gonna be some big Pokemon news by the end of the month. Combining the fact that Ruby and Sapphire turn ten in November leads me to believe it might be an announcement of a remake.
Hopefully on 3DS. With completely 3D battles.

Why wouldn't it be on 3DS?
The battles being 3D would be pretty cool, unless you mean with polygons, in which case I say they should stick with sprites. And give each pokemon more than one animation. Then again there are more than 600 of the little guys so it might be too much. Whatever. I'm still buying it.

Why wouldn't it be on 3DS? Because Gre/ay will more than likely end up on DS. Not in the history of ever has Pokemon introduced a remake on a gaming system that doesn't already have a main game (not that there's much to go on, but still.) Stick with...seriously? You'd rather have this pixelated mess over these crisp, clear models?I'm baffled by the logic. Please elaborate.

Sprite art, when done right, is a million times nicer looking than the best models the 3DS could possibly pull off, especially for something as cartoony-styled as Pokemon. That being said, while some of the Pokemon sprites are great, some really aren't that special.

That being said, while some of the Pokemon sprites are great, some really aren't that special. But, they weren't done right in Black and White. They made the back sprites the same size as the front sprites, so being up close meant they had to be stretched out...and it was a horrible sight to look at. And that's beside the point. With 3D models, animations are easier to make. Every Pokemon behaves differently depending on the attack chosen, like how in Pokemon Stadium, Pikachu doing a physical attack made him walk back a bit and pounce forward and special attacks were him staring up angrily into the sky while raising his arms. This would be extremely tedious with sprites, but the models we've seen on the 3DS are Battle Revolution quality.

Actually I'll take sprites over 3D models too. Mostly because knowing Nintendo, import-only previous gen monsters would STILL use the craptastic Stadium 1 models, clashing with all that fancy looking shit. It's easier to animate different attacks with 3D models yeah, but Bite and Thunder Punch would still use the same unrelated [physical attack] animation so it looks dumb either way.
Anyway I'm betting it's gonna be Pokemon Greysomething instead. Same game, but with some uber monster crammed in the storyline, whoever the star of the latest movie was.

You said yourself, Teev, it'll probably be on the DS. The DS can't handle 3D models like that. This DS can handle 3D models like this. That's why nobody really uses 3D stuff on the DS. If it is on the 3DS it would be nice, but not if they're just going to reuse the N64 Stadium models again. It was so awkward seeing those really old low-poly Gen 1 models alongside the smooth, shiny Gen 4 ones in Battle Revolution. I'd prefer sprites. I'm actually expecting it to be on the 3DS. Third versions being on a different console isn't a new thing to me, since I played Gold on the original Game Boy and couldn't play Crystal 'cause I never owned a GBC. And the 3DS needs a Pokémon game. It's Nintendo's biggest handheld-seller.

Not in the history of ever has Pokemon introduced a remake on a gaming system that doesn't already have a main game (not that there's much to go on, but still.) As Kirbychu has said, Crystal HAS been a GBC only game as opposed to Gameboy. If Grey comes out on the 3DS and you disregard the gold/silver remakes, it'll mirror the first two gens perfectly: 3 games of one gen on the same system (R/B/Y, D/P/Pt), 2 games of the next gen on the same system but also enhanced by a more advanced system (G/S on gameboy, enhanced by color; B/W on the DS and enhanced by DSi, and in turn, the 3DS) and the final game of the second gen only on the advanced system (Crystal on Color, Grey on 3DS) That's one giant coincidence though. I personally don't think we should look at previous release patterns to determine what platform this is gonna be released on. We don't even know if it's gonna be Grey or Ruby/Sapphire. My opinion is that it'll be dumb to not release it on the 3DS considering the increasing popularity of the system and the DS being on the last leg of its shelf life, if it's not already dead. In my opinion, sprites in general look much better than 3D models. The only problem with B/W's sprites is that the back sprites and the front sprites were the same size so we have pixelation when they resize it to give the illusion of it being closer to us. Again though, with that many pokemon, bigger sprites may have introduced size issues. And it was probably easier to do it that way too, since the animation is actually the same no matter which way they're facing (hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you took the front and back sprites of each pokemon and made them one solid color and they ended up being exactly the same.) Despite the unflattering artifact filled snapshot you posted, the battles DID look really nice in the end. I really didn't have any problem with it.
