Melee its 10 years old!! my does time goes fast so lets forget about its sequel and its prequel what do you think about this game? Adventure mode was a great idea but I feel it was incomplete (I guess it was rushed) as well as I still dont know why Ganondorf didnt got his own move set, I guess also had to do with the game being rushed.

Hohoo, is it really 10 years old now? Gauu.
Melee, man. What a fun and fastpaced Nintendo-fest that was. And the one which really helped me to get introduced on Nintendo much more. (-=3=-) Back in old times I was wierded out that Mario and Pikachu are from same company in SSB, but then I see Captain Falcon and I went awestruck from there...
Adventure Mode back in those days wasn't much asked anyway, I was kinda content with it. / I must be quite modest fellow.../
My faves in the game were Kirby, Pikachu, Yoshi, Jigglypuff (lovely times, before she became somewhat... boring in Brawl) and Peach. Ness too, before he started to outright suck in Brawl. My bro now kills him always with Lucas. (->_l-)* At least I replaced Ness with Pit. (-lvl-)
I really miss the sound effects in that game and general graphic styles on that game- Brawl ones are just way too inferior on them, humph. Explosion effect was much more real in Melee... also the lag at strong attacks in Brawl are also something I wish to be taken out for Melee-one.
I might go on but still.

Melee is one of my favourite games, Great replayablility, excellent music, and served as a window for lots of "partial" fans of Nintendo to see what's going on in the other series. Some brave souls then started to actually look into those other stuff (I'm sure this is the case for some of us).
It's currently my second favourite game on GC, and probably one of my top 10 of all time. Definitely an influential game for most Nintendo fans.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I always loved Nintendo products, and due to lack of exposure it was the company I grew up on. But as far as active nerdery goes, this was the game.

I never owned a Gamecube, but I was always hooked on the original Smash Bros. I had a friend who owned Melee though and when he told me Ganondorf and Mewtwo were playable characters, I had to own it. I eventually did when I bought a Wii but I was so disappointed in Ganondorf's movepool. It made no sense that he didn't have any attacks from the games...

Yep, the game had awesome music. IMO, best SMB Ground Theme-rendition in whole Nintendo's history comes from Melee. (-l3l-)
2-Player was so competitive at times...
Melee had me introduced really on Nintendo, hohoo. Lip's Stick, lawl.

Melee was good. Lots of trophies covering Nintendo's little things, pretty decent Adventure mode and overall a huge expansion compared to the original. Even though it was bigger I thought the character roster had some odd choices and balancing was pretty bad, but Brawl pretty much fixed that now anyway (if only the Brawl trophies and SSE weren't complete shit).
And yeah it wasn't until Melee's trophies where I recognised some old retro dudes (which I didnt even know belonged to Nintendo) and seen some new stuff like Fire Emblem that I took an interest in Nintendo's history and all that

One thing I still love from Melee are the music remixes to represent the franchises, they did a great job to represent every franchise with just one (in some cases two) songs.
