Some interesting announcements. PAL regions get an even better Xenoblade Collectors Edition with a vinyl track, soundtrack download code, poster and steelbook while NA only get just the artbook. (I wonder, why does this happen?) Looks the characters have actual lip sync now. I think Melia sounded different though. ARMS fighter for Smash, it's about time. So the game that came out in 2017 gets a fighter now, while 2019's FE:TH got one earlier? Now the question is, will it be Spring Man since he's already an assist trophy/Mii costume? Anyone expecting a Bowser Jr alt situation for 15 characters is probably going to be disappointed, since so many character have different body types/shapes. Shinsekai: Into The Depths looks good. Clubhouse games: 51 worldwide classics looks good. We can finally play a touchscreen version of othello that was first shown back when the Wii U was revealed! Some interesting choice of game with things like the mechanical looking table soccer/tennis/baseball games. While fishing, shooting gallery and tanks/team tanks look inspired by the Wii Play minigames. Also Nintendo Hanafuda and playing card cameos. Looks like at least 44 of them can be played online. Ring Fit Adventure finally gets a "connection"/reference to Wii Fit. Good Job looks good fun, the little people remind of the ones from the Portal 2 level builder trailers While Ninjala will most likely be a fun game, it really needs some sort of major feature to separate it from games like Splatoon or Fortnite, etc for peoples attention. Voice chat? 4 player splitscreen/co-op? I don't think it going to do well, it NEEDS to do more to standout from what already exists. Ending with the Pokemon DLC was a strange choice, the Pokemon fans are going to buy it regardless but maybe it was the only other game they could confirm in this current climate to end with?

So, I have a question for you guys.
Normally, Nintendo's online presentations are broadcast live, and announced a day or two ahead of time. This time, however, Nintendo simply posted it to their YouTube channels without any advance notice.
So, I'm wondering, do you prefer it one way or the other?
The nice thing about the live broadcasts is that you can share the moment with other people, and also be less likely to be spoiled before watching it. Of course, that comes with caveat that you would actually be able to watch it when it's live. Otherwise, you would only see it after the fact and be subject to spoilers anyway. But then, maybe you don't care much about spoilers in the first place. It's just a presentation, after all.
I think I kinda prefer the live broadcasts. It can be annoying if I can't watch it live, but I do like the sense of anticipation when they announce it beforehand.
How about you guys?

Just releasing the video without prior announcement is what they did with the previous Nintendo Direct Mini, so it's not a new thing.
I'm fine either way, but leaning towards preferring advance announcement. Even if it's at a time when I'm unavailable, if it's announced before, I can know when to avoid reading Nintendo-related news.
Of course, this applies to other types of video presentations too, not just those from Nintendo.

With my work schedule I'm not going to catch it live, so it doesn't matter to me either way.

Are we ignoring the that the Pokemon Presents happened and actually had a good announcement as well as more Pokemon news about some else for next week? I'm only saddened that wasn't able to see the "announcement" of New Pokemon Snap, holy shit it's been 20 fucking years, and the new one looks really good live and/or unspoiled. While that Pokemon tooth brushing app seems a bit weird, the simple 2D art of the Pokemon looks cute. Though I think that trailer overestimates how many people have stands for their phones (and use them next to a basin). What ever happened to threatening kids with the a trip to the dentist and the drill or just seeing The Big Book of British Smiles to get them to brush their teeth?

I put the trailer in the news feed, but that's as far as I went. I don't think I even knew there was going to be a Pokemon presentation until after it happened.
New Pokemon Snap is cool, though. Fans have been begging for it for years. Strange that it's taken this long.

I was wondering if they were still going to do this this month.
NoA also notes that there will be no announcements of new fighters during this stream.

Nice timing for me.
I wouldn't doubt if they're going to do it in June when we're not even two thirds over. It's not like they're working on the fighter up to the very last minute before release; these stuff are done in advance, so by the time they could say June, they were mostly sure they could get it released in June.
NOE and NCL (in the YouTube page) also mentioned having no new fighter announcement. This is consistent with similar livestreams in the past, which were concentrated at just the specific fighter and other simultaneously-released additions.

So with less than 9-ish hours to go which of the ARMS fighters could it be? Expected: Minmin, because she is the winner of that final ARMS Party Crash, as in she's "fought" her way into Smash Who I want: Dr Coyle, because she seems to have the best ability representation of multiple ARMS character gimmicks in one canon character (eg, hovering flight from Mechanica, temporary invisibility from Ninjara, etc) and they could use that instead of doing the usual Smash fighter thing of giving moves/ability from other characters (Villager having Balloon Trip, Duck Hunt Dog referencing Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman) Unexpected: Biff the announcer? It seems like he might have stretchable ARMS More unexpected: A new character or redesigned existing character from an unannounced ARMS 2? Expectation that are too high and will lead to disappointment 4 or 8 ARMS fighters in one like Hero/Bowser Jr. And from the ARMS subreddit

So, they are making amiibo out of the DLC characters. Although, Sakurai's comment about not knowing how many they'll make makes we wonder if he was referring to stock, or if not all DLC characters may get amiibo.

It's taken over a year to finally get a Joker amiibo, maybe the issue is less of stock but will amiibo still be relevant in a few years time?
While Smash Ultimate amiibo have been releasing at a pretty regular rate, the latest non-Smash related amiibo (3rd party) are for Shovel Knight (last Decemeber) and then for 1st party it's Splatoon 2's Octolings back in July 2018. It's that awkward issue of do they commit to releasing amiibo of all DLC characters (with the last character being at the end of 2021) which probably cause their related amiibo to be released in 2022 or do they have to come forward and say they won't make them after X character?
To top it off the vast majority of Smash amiibo only work with Smash, amiibo usage in other games has plummeted and they never tried to pivot and do something like having Smash Bros amiibo in card form or a partially removable base to just with NFC chip in it for easy scanning/carrying (because who wants to take a tall and potentially fragile figurine (some on a stand) to someone else's house?
To change the subject to more positivity, Min Min certainly seems like an interesting fighter to play as. Also funny to hear the reason of why she's in the game, "the producer wanted her in". Interesting thing about the reveal video, none of the ARMS DLC fighters (Max Brass, Lola Pop, Springtron, Misango or Dr Coyle) got any appearance but do appear on the Spring Stadium screen.
The Pokemon Presents is on in a little over 9 hours and will be 11 minutes long.

Don't forget the Link's Awakening amiibo from last year. I think I agree it's more about relevancy, as amiibo have become more about being collectables rather than having meaningful game functionality.

Wow, what could WayForward be developing for Nintendo???
EDIT:
Still, to be featured in a Nintendo live stream, must there be some significance to it.

Well, I don't think anyone was expecting Nintendo to piggyback an announcement for a Bakugan game on a Paper Mario stream, but this is the world we live in. I feel like this was an odd announcement, no matter what your expectations were. Would've been hilarious if Nintendo had sneaked in something like a Smash announcement at the very end, just to troll everyone who bailed out of the Bakugan segment.

I admit that I don't follow kids shows and such, but I had no idea that Bakugan was still a thing.
