On December 27, Nintendo is airing a new Nintendo Direct broadcast to outline the short term plans of the Wii and 3DS. The previous ND revealed Sakura Samurai, Swapnote, the 3DS update, and heavily promoted Monster Hunter 3G. www.ustream.tv/user/Nintendo_Direct/shows For those of us in the Americas, it will stream on the evening of December 26. EDIT: Iwata has tweeted that the focus will be one games coming out by March, so the main attractions will probably be Fatal Frame and Kid Icarus.

I wonder what did Iwata feel, having gone through all those games that are nothing like what Nintendo would do. Fire Emblem 13 (now subtitled Awakening and with a logo not in the series' style at all) is... interesting. It's a lot more like your typical RPG in look and feel, and the whole level-grinding thing is back. Looks like I was right when I said it would be the easiest in the series before. Not mentioned in this video, but there are rumors on sites like Kotaku and Nikkei (yes, that Japanese financial institute) that FE13 would be the first from Nintendo to feature paid DLC. Ugh... I hope not, especially if it gets an overseas release. The pre-tax, something-point-99 prices means it is extremely likely for players to end up with decimal remainders, unlike the much simpler Wii and DSi shop points, and unlikely the Japanese price tags showing one single after-tax price with zeros instead of nines at the end. Ghost Camera looks interesting in that it actually makes use of what looks like the instruction booklet. I wonder if other games will include AR materials like that (instead of as seperate cards seen in Kid Icarus).

EDIT: (Didn't see nocturnal YL post) Nothing major announced. Live blog of what happened. andriasang.com/comzi3/nintendo_direct_live_blog/- Online confirmed for Kid Icarus - Fire Emblem: Awakening has a April 19th Jap release. (has skill system and world map from previous games) - Sakamoto showed off a new game from the WarioWare team, some sort of audio based Wii game called Kiki Trick.

I just got a swapnote from Reggie saying that NoA will have its own presentation broadcast three hours after the Japanese one. NoA hasn't had a ND since the first one back in October, can't wait for North American news.
NoE will also be providing a sub of the Japanese show, at the end will be bonus European exclusive news.

Ooh, NoE! Here's hoping seemingly Japan-only contents getting through, at least to Europe (although it doesn't help my situation... oh well, sooner or later I'm going to have to buy a second Japanese 3DS).

Despite what the JP site said before the show, there is zero mention of Wii this time. Even the 2DS had more exposure than Wii - infinity times that, in fact.
Based on what I've seen in the JP and EU videos (yes, I watched the same video twice in two languages, because I was late for the JP show), here are some info (that Leon didn't post):
Kid Icarus 3: my comment: Based on the vid and Sakurai's description, the game has lots of similarities to quite a lot of games, including both Sakurai and non-Sakurai games (get ready, cameo hunters) my comment: Also, Sakurai looked really professional in his part. I've never seen him putting so much into a game and describing it so clearly. I'm now tempted to buy this one... European update at Twitter: @kidicarusuk
Fire Emblem 13: JP release: April 19, 2012 EU release: somewhere in 2012 Character artist is Yusuke Kozaki Will feature additional maps and story (paid DLC?) my comment: (Old FE characters ... for the DLC maps, maybe?)
Mario Tennis Open: Customizable Mii-based character (with Mario-themed sportswear too) EU release: 25 May 2012
Culdcent: Board/Card battle game More balanced gameplay, in-game help system Local + Wi-Fi JP release: 28 Jun 2012
Dillon's Rolling Western: Made by Vanpool, who made the Tingle games Available right now
Swapnote Europe's note-from-Nintendo (referring to their equivalent of NA's Reggie note?) has yet to come out; will be so in a few days Nintendo will send notes for people with specific games (JP) Notes available until March (JP), so download Swapnote ASAP if you have yet to do so
Thanks for the info and JP links, Leon!

Haahum, things are looking very swell indeed. Paid DLC can mean so much now IMO for upcoming games if implemented. Uprising again seems very nice pack (though again there's some similar elements to earlier games which wierds me out)
Mario Tennis Open sounds kinda interesting, though I have to think twice before buying a Mario-spinoff other than Mario Kart... and nice to hear you can actually customise your Mii and maybe it's stats?
Rolling Western was a great oddball now since I heard it's behind the creators of Tingle-series, so I can count on it being above-average fun. (-lvl-)
AND... A CROSSOVER FROM NAMCO, CAPCOM AND SEGA?!
Count me in! Can't just wait to see what it's about.

Forget about Nintendo of America. They had nothing more than a short 11-minute video that talked about 5 games, most of which are confirmed releases anyway.
Permission to hit Reggie in the head, please.

Crossover from SEGA, Capcom, and NamcoBandai I just read about this over at Siliconera. Its gonna be a 3DS game and Banpresto is involved (since they are part of Namco), so I'm going to guess for now its going to be a JP-only sequel to the JP-only Namco X Capcom SRPG game, only now its gonna have SEGA in it.

So Mario Tennis Open gets a release date, yet Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario 3DS and Animal Crossing 3DS still don't get anything more?! Permission to hit Reggie in the head, please. ...Permission granted.
