Oh my god, Codename Steam looks hilarious. I'm also a huge fan of Americana which the game looks rife with. Whoa! Coins are changed to rupees in the Hyrule Castle course in Mario Kart! That's awesome.

All of the characters in STEAM are from books- Henry Fleming is from the Red Badge of Courage, Lion Oz and Tiger Lily Peter Pan.
This greatly enhances an already neat looking game in my opinion. It's a steam punk League of Extraordinary Gentlemen X-Com ripoff.

I'm starting to get more interested in Splatoon. I wonder what was with those pixel-art side-scrolling levels. I was kinda hoping for a new look at Devil's Third since Itagaki said they've improved the graphics and animations a lot since the E3 build, but I imagine it's hard to work in a game like that next to Mario and Kirby.

I don't think Nintendo is ready for Devil's Third to really debut at this time. They seem to want that game to have as much time in the oven as possible.
The new trailer for Splatoon was great. I like the look of the new Octopus enemies.

My understanding is that people on 4chan are already trying to translate their language.

I.... Fire Emblem if. Both Xenoblades to be released earlier than I thought. Splatoon in May. New Yakuman (subscription-based). Non-Smash Mario amiibo. Captain Toad/amiibo bundle. Robin, Lucina, Ness and more getting amiibo. FE Smashers in S.T.E.A.M. via amiibo. I'm speechless. EDIT - The JP Nintendo Direct page has a neat summary of what have been shown. We're (well, Japanese version importers) getting a new Style Savvy and a new Rhythm Heaven too. And there's that creepy Happy Mask Salesman trailer.

I knew a new Fire Emblem was coming, it's been almost three years since Awakening debuted in Japan. I'm excited that Shin Kibayashi is writing the story, that dude has made some great manga over the years.
Jealous of the Wii games that Japan is getting. They've already got Pandora's Tower, Reginleiv, an Sin & Punishment scheduled for February.

Tingle in Hyrule Warriors is the best part of the Direct. Kooloo Limpah! Young Link looks awesome too.
Good to see that the Wave 3 amiibos are coming next month... and the Wave 4 amiibos will come in Spring. I currently have 13 amiibos (only missing Villager, Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, Captain Falcon, Little Mac).
Also, excited for Super Mario amiibos... with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, and Toad who is the first non-Smash character to get an amiibo.
Super Mario Galaxy 2, Punch-Out!! Wii, and Metroid Prime Trilogy are coming to Wii U eShop?! I have to get them! Especially Metroid!
Fire Emblem looks good. Maybe I should get Awakening? Oh, and both Xenoblade games look amazing! And I MUST get Majora's Mask 3D (I still need to get Ocarina of Time 3D).
Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Wii U? Maybe I might get it... I haven't played any of the games in the series since the first one.

You sound to me that you have missed quite a lot of games.
Mario vs DK plays exactly like the fourth game (Mini-Land Mayhem). It's quite different from the first game.

I haven't played any of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games since the original GBA game, the one where you actually play as Mario himself just like in the arcade game. It is just that I didn't want to play it on the small screen again... and knowing that it will be on the big screen and that I can create levels just like in the other games I missed out on is icing on the cake. I just didn't like creating levels on the 3DS (Pushmo and Crashmo come to mind) but I like doing it on the Wii U (Pushmo World), you know?

Not really. I mean, MvDK1 is pretty much a follow-up to that, but it doesn't bear the "Mario vs. Donkey Kong" name. That and all the MvDK games after it are essentially "Mario Lemmings". DK's presence doesn't really amount to much.
