Idea thread for new modes for Smash Bros multiplayer, we already have the established Time, Stock and Coin (cough, cough, everyone hates Bonus) battles but other modes could the game have?
Alternative title name: Super Smash Bros. Dream Multiplayer Modes.
- Area denial
A portion/portions of the stage become damging to players (deliver constant damge to those standing on them) fighters must move to "untouched" portions of the stage to fight on.
- Control point/King of the Hill
A select location on the stage starts glowing and players must try to stand in it and defend the "point" for as long possibe to get points from it, (taunting in the "point" gives bonus points to that player)
- Attack removal
Every 30 seconds an attack (or set of attacks) becomes disabled (or deals no damage alternatively) Eg, all B button attacks become disabled or throws become disabled.
After 30 seconds the disabled attacks become usable again.
Alternative idea, certain attacks beomce more damaging for 30 seconds
-The Smasher with the GoldenGun Hammer/Item
A select single "golden" melee weapon falls on to the stage that can deliver an instant KO, and is the only way to get points in this round (or alternatively gives +5 points for a KO) players must fight for control to gain this weapon.
- Tag team.
Pretty obvious, A match for 4 players but only 2 on screen fighters, when a swap button is pressed allow a team member to swap in, with their own character.
- Line up fight
Players select 5 different fighters before the match starts and when each is KO it respawns with the next fighter from their selection (Eg Player 1 selects Mario, Link, Pit, DK and Marth, when Mario is KO, Link respawns in, and when Link is KO, Pit repawns in and so on.
- Online mode restriction idea
Weekly character restrictions that limit the selction of certain character due to certain guideline Eg, Fighters created before 1993/or after 1993 only, characters holding a weapon only, non humanoid characters only, Main characters (of their franchise) only, Characters that starred in a N64 game only, Newcomer fighters only, etc
The idea of this mode is to prevent people from spamming the same character in online games (like how Street Fighter IV become Ken Fighter IV online AKA Player-Preferred Pattern and ComplacentGaming Syndrome ).
