Nintendo All-Stars Returns

Years ago, NinDB had a section called "Nintendo All-Stars", where I drew and wrote bios for various Nintendo characters.

As I finish getting the rest of the site up to speed, I have been seriously considering reviving this section, as it was very popular and brought in quite a lot of crowds.

The problem I always had:

I created Nintendo All-Stars to promote little-known characters, but it always felt incomplete without the more popular characters.

This time I am going to do it thusly:

1. Launch with a selection of well-known characters - mainly made up of the key Super Smash Bros. contenders.

2. Run a poll every 1 or 2 weeks to decide who will be the next character to be added. I may theme the polls, so some weeks may be all Mario characters, all ladies, all villains, etc.

3. As the section expands, break it up into more characters per series.

I plan on starting with:
- Mario
- Luigi
- Donkey Kong
- Link
- Samus Aran
- Kirby
- Fox McCloud
- Pichu, Pikachu & Raichu
- Ness
- Captain Falcon
- Marth
- Pit

That's a lot of work to begin with, but it'll be worth it. You may notice I'm combining Pokémon evolution families as well.

Do you have any comments or ideas for making this process easier? I'm looking forward to it, but it'll be a big commitment.

Yaaay!! Nice to see this revived again!!!

Polls for determining characters are a good idea there Fry, but wish it won't become a contest-styled wackiness when determining who's worthy of Nintendo All Star-title. (-l.l-)

One suggestion: can each member here request one major character of a franchise to be included as a Nintendo All Star? Would help well getting our wishes out and the polls not having your fan favourite would make it less competitive-feeling. The criteria though better be that he/she is/was significant to Nintendo in some way.

I wanna see Lip as one of dem Nintendo All Stars: the Puzzle Princess of Nintendo, heh!

I'm glad to have a confirmation of its return. I remember, years ago I came here to read the profile for Fox, then I started looking at the others like Mr. Stevenson and I was hooked.

One thing I suggest is that if you see a character that tickles your fancy just run with it. Don't worry about making a poll, just add it if it interests you. I know that back when the original All-Stars was out, we wouldn't have voted for characters like Mike Anderson or Mr. Stevenson, so I encourage you to pursue your own interests as this project moves forward.

Hm, can't say I remember the original (not big surprise, I have terrible memory), but this sounds interesting. I suggest asking for help for any bios for character you might not know as much as someone else here (like asking Leon help when dealing with Fire Emblem characters).

Either way, what you can do is sometimes some polls and sometimes you surprise us with obscure/unexpected characters (unless if that's what you meant by point 2, in which case... meh). I'll be awaiting cool and interesting stuff and tidbits, as always.

I fully intend to run with characters I want to run with - or weigh polls heavily in the favour of the one I want picked! Because that's the kind of asshole I am

I also like the idea of getting some main picks together from you guys, and I probably will do it that way for a while. I may even start out just getting the main picks out of the way and then moving into polls as we run dry. Or using your guys' picks as polls! So many options.

And then I may integrate it with Nintober, another idea I've had.

I will try and get some example entries done and run them by you guys first. Can't promise it will be super-immediate, as I still have to finish rewriting pretty much the entire site... but it won't be long! ;D

One last thing, is that I think you should hold off on Marth for the time being. It looks like he is going to be in the next Fire Emblem game, so we might as well wait for until we if he actually is in it and what role he plays.

Ooh. That's one part I missed about NinDB. That, and the page where you put your old fanart on (like that NES style SSBM CSS, and all those splash images to NinDB).
