Project X Zone - Capcom/Namco/Sega 3DS game

Project X Zone (pronounced Project Cross Zone), thats the name of the Capcom/Namco Bandai/Sega 3DS crossover game and its a SRPG (which doesn't surprise me since Banpresto is involved).

Can't say that I'm disappointed since a SRPG was pretty much what I expected (that or yet another crossover FG) but I'm not excited at all though since I'm not a SRPG fan and I didn't really expect something mindblowing anyway.

Now the question is if this will come outside Japan, not impossible but I heavily doubt it since I bet there will be licensing issues, that and because this game gives me the impression that its the sequel of a certain JP-only PS2 SRPG game involving Namco and Capcom characters...

It really does look like the sequel to Namco x Capcom, which I never played obviously. This does seem too big to stay in Japan, but then it remains to be seen whether they'll decide a crossover that isn't a fighting game is too niche to come to America. In any case, both X AND Zero in this game has me sold. If it comes over here, I'm definitely getting it.

I don't think licensing was much of an issue with the former one (aside from maybe all that Strider Hiryu crap), just that it was a strategy RPG game with a lotta characters from Japan only games. They probably figured nobody here would buy it and didn't bother

- Namco Bandai's Kensuke Tsukanaka, the game's producer, approached Capcom to work on this game, and then brought in SEGA
- Capcom's Tatsuya Kitabayashi said that he and Kazuhiro Tsuchiya are overseeing the project on Capcom's side.
- Choosing a name with all three company's names included would have been too long which is why they decided on the Project X Zone name (the reasoning doesn't make sense in Japanese either).
- Characters have all their familiar moves.
- character list is not final, there will be other characters besides the initial announcement, including hidden ones.
- some of the characters not suited to RPGs will still fight in ways you'd expect them to.

-Game is currently 50% complete. A release is planned for this year.

Looks good, the Capcom side of the roster seems more westernized than the roster from Namco X Capcom.

It also looks like it's coming from Morizumi's team at Monolith Soft. Interesting that they are still working with Namco even after they sold all their remaining shares in the company.

The official site is fully open, you can listen to some of the confirmed characters voice samples. Other then that there is not much content at the moment.

I must say that I'm not a fan of the character artwork. Would have been nice if Takuji Kawano (one of Namco's well-known 2D artists) was the character designer instead like he was for Namco X Capcom.
