Hmm...seems Fry doesn't frequent this section much anymore...or he just chooses to ignore us! Probably 'cause our cameos all suck...like this one! Roggenrola's Japanese name is Dangoro. The same name of this guy from Twilight Princess!

They likely share the same etymology- dango, which is a type of Japanese dumpling, and goro, which is a baseball term. Goro goro, an onomatopoeia for rolling, is even more likely.
Could be intentional though.

I don't know. Pokemon is still very distant and independent from Nintendo.
Nintendo is not as involved with Pokemon as many people may think. While they do own 1/3 of it, they do nothing with the franchise themselves. All the rest is in Game Freak's hands.

But isn't Creatures, Inc. a first-party Nintendo studio, like EAD? Which co-develops the main Pokémon games with Game Freak?
And since Creatures is a subsidiary of Nintendo, doesn't that mean Nintendo technically owns 2/3 of the Pokémon brand?
And aren't Nintendo well-known for being closely involved in the development of any game they publish, even if a third-party studio is handling it?
And isn't The Pokémon Company a company set up by Nintendo to manage the Pokémon brand?
This post has nothing to do with whether or not Dangoro is an actual reference, it's just a reaction to the very misinformed statement preceeding it. Carry on, guys.

I frequent it as often as I frequent the forums, but I don't always pass comment. Mainly because they always end up as arguments as to what constitutes a cameo ;D
For example, I would be very surprised if both characters are named after each other. Especially given they're both named after an onomatopoeia.

Honestly, I doubt this. Still, that the shared name is for a pair of rock creatures does intrigue me, at least.
However, this has brought to my mind an interesting fact: Graveler and Golem are called, respectively, "Gorôn" and "Gorônya" in Japanese, and do, kinda, look like a Goron, and that they do share similarities: The Goron Roll, curling included, and the Goron's associations with explosives coming to mind for the Gorons. Graveler and Golem have been able to learn Defence Curl, Selfdestruct, and Explosion since Gen I, and since Gen II have been able to learn Rollout. Now, I'm not saying that the Geodude family inspired the Gorons, but it's interesting to note. I'm also not saying they didn't. Remember the Keaton Mask?
Yeah, this theory's crack.
