In Densetsu no Starfy 4 and the Japanese version of Super Princess Peach, there are a lot of 3D models and textures that are never used.
One of the models I found was this.

At first I was tempted to say that they were based on Tingle, Link or the Kokiri tribe. If you look closely, you can spot that they have a swirl on their chin, kind of like Tingle's cheeks.
However, these characters are really ambiguous and are lacking Tingle's nose and ears, and unlike Tingle, these characters have round red cheeks.
I haven't played that many Zelda games, so I was wondering whether any Zelda fans had a better idea.
Looking at it for a second time, I don't think its necessarily meant to be for Zelda at all. All of the above characters are called 'ninzya' something. They also have objects resembling swords. The first is just 'ninzya', the second is 'ninzya2', and the third is 'ninzya5'.
So I looked at the enemies in Nazo no Murasame Jo and there are green, purple/pink and black ninjas, and thought there might be a link.
However, weakening my theory is this guy called 'Ninzyalow'.
He wears a yellow tunic and has a black moustache, and there aren't any yellow ninjas in Nazo no Murasame Jou. There is some kanji/hanzi on his forehead, but I unfortunately can't make out what it says.
