Review a Bad Game Day is coming August 8th, and I've said I will review one. Brace yourselves for my first on-camera appearance. Quick note on constructive criticism: - If it's about the sound, I know. The joke is that I'm whispering into the camera and the footage I've recorded for the review so far is much clearer. I don't have a professional setup so audio quality isn't going to be superb anyway.
- If it's about the jacket, screw you! I'm wearing that on purpose.
- If you make videos yourself, or have any experience with video editing software, I would like to hear as much advice as you can give. You can either respond here or drop me an email at fryguy64@hotmail.com
Now I have to hope I can get my TV card up and running quickly...

That's the best Nintendo hat Couldn't really make out a lot of what you were saying, but since you've already dealt with that with the actual review, uh, nevermind then! Two things about video reviews, though they are pretty much just personal preferences: - Keep the video about reviewing the game. Some video reviewers (TGWTG) tend to turn it into some amateur sketch show. No problem with visual gags ofcourse but make sure it's about the game you're reviewing, not about the character you're playing. - Don't be fake angry. When you seriously are frustrated with (aspects of) a game it's noticable in the way you speak, which is funny. Those swear marathons the AVGN breaks into are dumb. Best if you just leave out the swearing all together though, my favorite James Rolfe reviews are where he's calm and explains the problems/trivia (his console/movie reviews) Also there's this video of how James Rolfe gets things done, might give you some interesting pointers

Shit. I'd love to do this if I had a digital camera. Or a webcam. Or whatever.
But yeah dude, your accent is sultry and sexy. I also agree with 8bit. Don't go into rage fits!

Maybe you could use your artistic capabilities to draw cartoon... thingies... Like to explain certain parts when sometimes, words just don't cut it. Doesn't have to be fully animated, sort of like Egoraptor's Sequelitis' drawings.
You could also use VG music to set a mood in your video, and it don't necessarily have to be from the game you're reviewing, though it does help. Like for example, when you slowly brought Super Paper Mario into view, for some reason, my brain automatically searched for a song that would work well there, and Super Metroid's Maridia Rocky Underwater Area popped into my head. You did give a sense of despair when you brought that game up.
Of course, all of this depends on the rules of Review a Bad Game Day, of which I know nothing about.
I could say more... but I'm just too lazy at the moment. Good luck with the review and all.

As many said, there a to many angry reviewers outhere, try to find your own style. And dont try to force your voice, Doug Walker constantly gets a sour for doing it.

I love AVGN and TGWTG, but I don't watch them for their opinions on the games any more. I watch them for the amusing insanity. There's still good reviews out there like Egoraptor's sequelitis and RedLetterMedia's Mr. Plinkett who tear the games/movies apart while in character. I don't want to produce a dry, dull review, but nor do I want to go over the top and lose the focus. I want to produce something I would watch. I'm not sweary or fake-angry though. I do silly voices and a few jokes to keep it light, and I couldn't avoid dropping a few swears into my review script. There's just no synonym for "clusterfuck"... I have a few Photoshops to drop in, but I won't be drawing. Have you any idea how long it takes Egoraptor to produce an episode of Sequelitis? I have 4 days to get this review out! I am going to use music. I didn't use it at that point in the preview for a good reason - because the unsure suggestion that Super Paper Mario might be good was about to give way to the "World of Nothing" music (from SPM), which had to have impact. I've also managed to get my TV card working, so there'll be plenty of game footage in there as well.

Cool, I hope it does well. Oh, and I didn't mean exactly like Sequelitis, I just used used it as an example.
As for the game itself, does it really fall within the boundaries of "bad" game? I always heard that SPM was a "meh" game.

I've long been of the opinion that it's a genuinely bad game and have ranted about it here for long enough. All will be explained in a few days

At the expense of sleep and sanity, my video review explaining exactly why I hate Super Paper Mario uploaded last night, after which I slipped into a deep coma: I have a newfound respect for the people who put out videos regularly. This was exhausting work! I lost a whole night's sleep, Zelda II just didn't want to be recorded in ANY of the versions I own, and the camera kept changing brightness, so I had to Color Balance the whole thing Still, I may do a couple of "voice over footage" things. I want to cover some of the more obscure Nintendo things (Totaka's Song, Super Mario Land obscurities & naming).

I already left my input on the vid, but yeah. Good thing I never got too far in SPM
