I suppose this is stretching things a bit, but I noticed in official artwork that Raccoon Luigi's ears and tail are different than Raccoon Mario's. (I guess this was also the case with the Tanooki Suit in Super Mario 3D Land.) Anyway, what struck me was that Luigi's ears and tail looked less like a raccoon's (lacking the rounded ears and ringed tail), and a little more like a fox's. Then again, whoever heard of a flying fox?

Well, you see, while Mario's raccoon power is based on the mythical tanuki, Luigi's apparent fox-like form of it is based on the kitsune. But as for the "flying fox" thing, that is a pretty good eye for that sort of thing. But I'm not entirely sure if it would qualify as a cameo, per se.

You're probably right, but then I guess "Raccoon Luigi" should actually be called "Fox Luigi" or "Kitsune Luigi."

Haha, well while on the one hand I believe the kitsune thing is entirely the case here (the tanuki and kitsune are often treated as rivals in the transforming/magic thing in Japan) the idea that Player 2 as a flying fox is a reference to Sonic is almost too tasty ;D
But yes, it's an interesting fact about Japanese mythology, but I'm not sure it counts as a cameo. However, sometimes I like to put these interesting things up anyway.
What I mean is... Sometimes I think about updating NinDB...

You're probably right, but then I guess "Raccoon Luigi" should actually be called "Fox Luigi" or "Kitsune Luigi." As is the case with NOE Spanish.

I didn't want to make a new thread for this butt-fuck it. There's a reason for the Toad's colors. Attachments:

For the Toad's colors on the disc? Or in general? xD

RGBY are regarded as the psychological primaries, you know. So it's not going to be the reason of the Toad's colours in general.
I've heard of that disc thing long ago (I think in cheezburger.com). Not sure if anyone has posted that in the NSMB Wii thread, though.
This is the NSMB 2 thread. Wrong place, buddy.

For the Toad's colors on the disc? Or in general? xD For the NSMB games. I wondered "Why blue and yellow? Why not purple, black, etc. This is the NSMB 2 thread. Wrong place, buddy. I realize it, buddy. But it's all the same series. I didn't feel like digging through pages for the NSMB Wii topic.

R/B/G/Y sets are a tradition since the very own Super Famicom days, with Super Mario World and its R/B/G/Y-colored exclamation blocks and Koopa Troopa or Yoshi variations. That's also why Waluigi is... close to blue. I guess their status as primary colors make them easy to remind of and categorize things. Remember Simon? EDIT: granted, it's not the same order... Probably you mean the order.

Probably you mean the order. Yeah, that's the main thing I felt stands out. I'd think Mario would be next to Luigi, but seeing how they're arranged I'm sure it was deliberate.
