Like most games from Sakamoto's team at SPD, Tomodachi Collection is filled with Nintendo cameos. From a trailer shown at the latest Nintendo Direct we can see lots of different hardware units on display in Iwata's apartment. We can also see a band called the Game Boys, but that might just be a name Iwata created for his own character.

Food Fantasy ? Final Foodtasy ? Final Food-taste-y ? Last Order Final Fantasy VII ? Final Fantasy Kitchen Tactics Advance Course Meal ? Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Chicken Wings ? Final Fantasy Cooking Chronicles: My life as a Chef ? (One of those is a real game by the way but which one? ;D)
Instead of critical hit's there should "critical heat" when food is at an optimal temperature.
Standard attacks should be like "stir", "cut", "knead".
Magic attacks would be "oven", "add boiling water" or "blender" (some sort of machinery)
Items would be just ingredients to make the meal . . .
Dammit people, there's a fucking good idea in here somewhere. (begins writing of game design document)

Also all Miis can be given a Wii U and 3DSXL to play with. The Wii U can be heard playing Pirates from Game & Wario, as well as Metroid Blast, Takamaru's Ninja Castle, and Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest from NintendoLand. The 3DS doesn't seem to feature any game in particular.
Getting those Nintendo treasures have been killing me.
Anyone think this is a Slippy reference?
I'd say yeah, thought it might have just been a generic Frogger reference but it does look pretty much exactly like the top half of Slippy.
On another note concerning references, I've noticed a buttload of "1889" references in the game. A lot of sports-related clothing and headwear use '89, and a bunch of rooms have generic rock-music type posters with 1889 on them.
I've also noticed the word "Redfurt" being used in a lot of areas in the game and on various clothing items as well but I can't find any meaning concerning it.
Nester the Lark: Hello, NinDB world! Post your shouts here! (But be careful not to wake the neighbors. )

nocturnal YL: Guys, guys! I can't believe what I found in Zelda 1! The game features an Elimination Mode that for some reason not many talked about! I wonder if it's fun? (Don't actually try it.)

nocturnal YL: Hey, I can edit shoutbox posts! This is already better than Twitter!

Nester the Lark: It seems like Cadence of Hyrule should be more popular than it is. Are people put off by the rhythm aspect? Or the randomly-generated maps?
Jul 24, 2020 14:01:59 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: ↑ Might warrant its own thread, but I think mixing rhythm and other genres usually resuls in gameplay too difficult for many. I can't handle it well either, judging from my scores in Dedede's Drum Dash.

nocturnal YL: ↑ For me personally, it simply hasn't been considered. It's a download-only game (until now) from a series I'm unfamiliar with and didn't feel like trying out.
Jul 24, 2020 23:02:40 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Ironically, I did create a thread for Cadence of Hyrule, but then deleted it thinking there wouldn't be any discussion on it. Maybe I'll go ahead and make a new one.

Shrikeswind: Something to bear in mind about the shoutbox if you’re not already aware: It doesn’t show up on the mobile version of the forums. This shouldn’t be a major problem, but it can make it difficult to get into discussions for mobile visitors.
Jul 26, 2020 1:40:18 GMT -5
Shrikeswind: Also the more obvious character limit issues, and the format not really being conducive to longer-term discussion. It’s useful but limited; threads definitely still have their place.

Shrikeswind: (Honestly, Proboards mobile is pretty bad in general, but...)

Nester the Lark: Not sure if this works on all devices, but you can force the desktop version of the forum by scrolling all the way to the bottom and clicking the "Desktop" link at the lower right.

Shrikeswind: I’m aware. I’m typing this from my phone. I’m just pointing out that, for people who aren’t aware or who may be casually checking in on their phone, the shoutbox won’t be visible on

Shrikeswind: Is there a Discord for NinDB, by the way? It’s very popular with them there young’ns these days, so it might help activity.
Jul 26, 2020 22:07:47 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: There is no NinDB Discord. There was a brief discussion of it a few years ago, but nothing ultimately came of it. I rarely use Discord, myself.
Jul 27, 2020 8:58:28 GMT -5
Shrikeswind: Hm. Seems like it might be a good idea if activity picks up. Not to be a pessimist but I do have my doubts that'll happen though.

Shrikeswind: Okay not a Nintendo topic but I kinda need to talk about this because I just learned it and it's a thing so bleh.

Shrikeswind: You remember Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, right? So apparently, 5 year old me was incapable of discerning male and female in non-humans, because *apparently* there's a female gargoyle, and the goat's a boy.
