F-Zero GX - new cameo?

Right, I received an interesting email, and I was wondering what you guys can make of it:

Hey. I noticed a cameo of Mario and several other nintendo characters in F-Zero GX.

In the Pilot Profiles section, go to Dr. Stewart. Once there, press X to access the Golden Fox data. On the front of the craft, there should be a black-ish reflective plate in front of the cockpit. If you look at it from a cirtain angle, you can see very faint, blurry reflections of Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and several other characters that I cannot make out. I don't have a digital camera, so I cannot send a picture, but I can assure you it's there.

Now, I've checked this out myself, and from what I can tell he's onto something. There is SOMETHING reflected on the cars in the Pilot Profiles mode, but it's hard to see what.

Does anyone know if there is a better car to see the reflections in, or (better yet) has someone hacked the game open with an Action Replay to see if there's a hidden image there?

Give it a go yourself, and report back! I think I see Mario on the left, and Yoshi next to him, but I can't make anything else out.

I can't make out anything reflecting off the Golden Fox, except for a bunch of yellow and orange. But, with Beastman's car, profile number 18(?), if you rotate it so its shiny nose points right at you, then get underneath it a tad and zoom in all the way, it looks like a city.

I noticed the windshields are reflecting what appears to be the same image. Leons car (#19) has a pretty clear view there, though somewhat distorted.

Another clear view is the cockpit part "Aerial Bullet", though I really can't make out anything specific.

i had a look with a lot of the cars... it could be the cover to mario party 4? there is defitely a mario and luigi type image

Hmm, I'm not too convinced. I can't see anything Mario related in my eyes. But I keep in mind that some people can see things other people can't.

I'm kinda interested in finding bugs and glitches and finding out little secrets and things of that nature, so I've actually looked and experimented with this before.
I was always convinced that it was an image of a city skyline with buildings etc, especially when I then looked at the reflection on the nosecone of Beastman's machine and that pretty much confirmed it to me.

I should be getting an Action Replay soon so I'll do a little digging around and see if I can come up with anything though.

Excellent! An Action Replayer / Bug Hunter is exactly the kinda thing NinDB needs for interesting new content! And the best part is, if you find any codes that unlock weird things or anything then they'll work on my Action Replay too! Because you're also English! Wahoo!

I only bought it to unlock SSBM's gift trophies and for the Freeloader for Animal Crossing... I didn't buy it to cheat! I earned all the unlockable cameo screens you see on this site... at least the ones on GC and N64

I've done a little more experimenting today and I stand corrected.

If you look at down from a birds-eye view of the cockpit on Dr. Clash's machine, you can see part of the image which has a mixture of 'skin colour', black, red and white which may be Mario. Then next to that is a splodge of green and white which could be Yoshi.

....Hmmm....how mysterious.

If it's Yoshi (which I think it is) then it looks like he's in his SSBM style. In fact, that Mario looks like he's in the same pose as the first Mario trophy in SSBM as well...
