No Animal Crossing 3DS thread? I'll make one. Nothing special (since I'm not an AC player), but the game was sold out much earlier than Nintendo anticipated. Since the ROM card's design is different from other games due to the huge save data, they can't continue production of this game until further raw materials are received. So take notice if you plan to get this one. It's that popular. Source (JP): official notice

AC New Leaf is completely DESTROYING Japan as far as I've seen. Also my buddy in Smashboards is demanding it to no end.
Still sucks I have to wait until Spring tho. (-=A=-);;

I know a guy in Japan who is obsessed with this game. He's just gone crazy with the furniture shop making stuff.
Anyways, if I buy this next year, I think I'll go digital, because Animal Crossing is something I like to play in short bursts.

So who else has Animal Crossing: New Leaf? I bought it because Villager is in SSB4 and he rejuvenated my interest in the Animal Crossing series and I am playing for the first time since the Gamecube game. Wow! I am really liking the game but I really wish they put in a town editor instead of giving me a random town and let me rename my town when I come up with something better later (I named my town St. Olaf because I am a fan of The Golden Girls). I am tolerating my town layout... but other than that, I really like the new stuff like being a mayor and watering plants and fishing for sharks and using the touch screen to select multiple items to donate/sell all at once (way more convenient than doing it one by one in the Gamecube game).

Gotta admit, I should be getting this game soon. If anything, it's thanks to SSB, since I've never been too interested in Animal Crossing in the first place, but I've always had it in the back of my head. As with Fire Emblem, Metroid and Kid Icarus, Super Smash Bros yet again makes me interested in another series. Damn marketing ploy xD
Let's see if I'll end up liking the game. I've been needing something to play that takes the stress away.

I got sucked into the internet hype and bought it despite the NGC version boring me to tears. But one week later and I'm still pretty into it. Customizing your entire village is fun and the easy online sharing of designs and whatnot is why I keep coming back to build my perfect house/town. What's the point if you cannot show off, right? Also since I've bought it digitally I can start it up without going through the trouble of switching cartridges every day, which was also one of the major reasons I stopped bothering with the NGC one. There's no way X/Y'll be leaving that cartridge slot coming October Also I apologize for my shitty AC swapnotes I'm spamming (but I won't stop bwahaha!) edit: apparently Nintendo uploadded this video yesterday of Reggie giving a tour of his AC crib

I deal with the randomized town layout pretty easily. I'm all for sandbox games, as I'm a huge fan of Sim and Tycoon games, but that's not really what Animal Crossing is about, for me. As far as this series goes, it's more entertaining for me to have to work with what I'm given, to some extent. There is a minimal amount of town customization that wasn't in the previous games, and while it isn't substantial, it's something. I finally have a way to solve that persistent Animal Crossing issue of "Why isn't there a goddamned bridge here!?". The town also feels smaller, but that doesn't really make it any worse.
Overall, this game feels more like it's a complete experience this time around, and the Main Street concept REALLY improved upon the basic concept of the "City" in City Folk, which I actually really hated.

Yeah, that's where City Folk was kind of a letdown. New Leaf really has stepped things up in the series by far. However, one drawback to most of the other buildings in New Leaf is that they're not all available from the start like they were before. So that's one point for City Folk.

I consider that a strong point, actually. The gradual growth and addition to Main Street makes it more interesting. If I know it'll be added to and evolved the more I play, I have more anticipation towards how the gameplay will reward me. In City Folk, one of the terrible parts about the city was the fact that it was always the same, every time I visited. It wasn't just that the attractions were lame. It's the fact that they never changed.

Okay . . . Now Nintendo (of Japan) has changed (or created) a new AC town that is Pikmin 3 themed. Dream code: 0000-0100-0017

Yep, still playing this daily. Gots my town at 6500-2385-6013. It's still a WIP (but it's not like I'm going for some crazy tile-spammed theme)
...Dayumn Arcadenik, that's a lotta flowers. And you're the first player I see who actually makes use of that weird Feng Shui thing (still don't know how that affects what). Also I like your goofy town tune.

LOL I kinda went overboard with the flowers. I wanted to add some color to my town. Also, the reason I placed so many tiles everywhere is to establish a path... to minimize my walking over grass everywhere. Grass disappear when you run over them. I heard it was worse in City Folk. About Feng Shui... - place yellow items on the west side of your main room to increase the amount of money you find. - place red items on the east side of your main room to increase the number of (rare?) items you find. - place green items on the south side of your main room to increase your overall luck. I am glad you liked my goofy town tune even though I didn't do anything... I am deaf so I didn't mess around with the town tune. How does it sound like? My town is still a work in progress, too. Currently, I am planting and harvesting fruits. I have all the fruits except peaches and cherries. I just planted my first persimmon a few days ago. I am hoarding pine tree saplings and bush saplings in my closets. I plan to cut down all the existing trees before I build permanent public works projects (café, campsite, police station). Once I build those three places, I will start working around the campsite... maybe turn the surrounding area into a nature park with picnic blanket, hammock, fire pit, log bench, and geyser. I might demolish the bridge next to the waterfall (leading to the river, not the one leading to the beach) and replace it with a wooden suspension bridge to give the area an outdoorsy feel. And then I start planting lots of pine trees around this area... this is why I am hoarding pine tree saplings.

Yeah, supposedly both walking and running over grass slowly decays it, but running ruins it a lot quicker. Not as bad as previous entries atleast. Ahh. Maybe it's the basic town theme then (which I immidiately changed so I dunno). Basically it starts of cheery, then sounds like the musician doesn't want to bother anymore and half asses the final chords. It's funny Oohyah. I got one of every basic fruit (including the 6 island ones) so if you ever want to trade we can just register one another's FC. Also I'm looking for Perfect Pears, so if you ever come across onetwo I will shower you with bells. Man, I read somewhere the tent will determine the location of your tenth villager so I built it smackdap in the middle of a urban area. And even then a tenth villager automatically moved in somewhere right in my symmetric city park. Don't they know how many stupid minigames I had to complete to buy those bushes?? Seriously as a mayor shouldn't you be able zone friggen areas. Now I'm trying to wiggle public works between everything because I'm afraid some stupid jerk will build his house directly on my flowerfield/pathway if I don't pay attention and someone will move away.
