Mistwalker working on another Last Story/RPG?

All from Mistwalker's recently updated website. They are links because they are pretty big images. Banner 1 and 3 say "Last World" on them, and all of them give off a very strong Last Story vibe, particularly 1 and 2 (1 because of the character's arms resembling Zael's Mark of the Outsider, plus the similar clothing and nearby animal that may be a Guardian spirit; 2 because the characters resemble Dagran and Calista quite eerily). 1 is on the home page, 2 on the Contact page, 3 on the Archive page. The Last Story's code name was "The Last World", so perhaps this is a prequel/sequel to TLS, or a revisit to that original idea, or just some concept work that got put up recently. There's no commentary on it on the site, so this is all speculation on my part. Personally, I'd be down with a sequel/prequel to TLS; I loved it, and this artwork makes me very excited about the possibility of revisiting the ideas laid down in that game.

There isn't really anything to go on beyond the artwork, itself. It's certainly done in the same style as The Last Story, and is probably done by the same artist. It might just be previously unreleased concept art for TLS, tho. Just something they had laying around that they decided to decorate their site with.

I'd be on board for another game, tho. I loved TLS.

The artist is indeed the same; it's Fujisaka's signature on Banner 1 and 3. This could very well be leftover "The Last World" concept work, but who knows? Mistwalker isn't really giving us more to go off of than the art.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Mistwalker was making a follow up to TLS. The game was fairly significant for NCL an an exclusive for Nintendo, and I bet they want a follow up for the Wii U.

If we're getting a new RPG (Xeno/"X") from Monolith Soft, another game/sequel from Mistwalker doesn't seem too unlikely. TLS had some mechanics that were quite good, and features that feel sort of like a prototype of something better yet to come (eg, online multiplayer modes could have been expanded on).

OpRainfall claims that the artwork in question was just preparatory sketches for The Last Story, and even links to a site that posted them last year. So, it's unlikely that they're a tease for a new game.
