I'll admit this forum has gotten pretty quiet lately, and I thought I'll just mention that I will be away for six weeks starting the April 29th .
So if you don't see me posting that why. (I'll be back around June 8th in time for E3 thankfully).
I probably need the break from the internet anyway. I can't remember the last time I went away from the net for more than a few hours.

I'll admit I'm away on a army bootcamp type course for unemployed youth for 6 weeks , it's more than just being away from the net for a few weeks.

See you. Best of luck on whatever you'll have to do in your bootcamp.

I didn't want to ask in case it wasn't our business, but good luck with bootcamp.

Bump!
I'm back everybody!
After 6 weeks of intense training designed to give (unemployed) youth (aka myself) skills and confidence to go out and get a job, I feel a lot more condfident now.
I'll admit though, it wasn't really a bootcamp like I thought it would be. Staff there denied it was a bootcamp on the first day. (though some aspects of it did seem like one, 5:30 wakeups, compulsary head shave for males on first day, daily facial shave for males, marching/drill practice, having to wear military uniform (eg camo gear), lugging around massive backpacks when camping. and the the course being served from staff from the New Zealand Defence Forces (eg NZ Army/Air Force/Navy) and yes if you fucked up you did get punished)
I haven't had any real news from the outside world and the only gaming news I got was a newspaper clipping sent from home talking about the new Xbox One (?) which had pics but no specs, and mentioned how it has new rumble/vibration tech so you can really feel it int the trigger buttons(?).
So is there any other major gaming news I'm missed out on?
EDIT: Also Wow! at the new forum redesign!

Welcome back! I'm not sure how's training like that going to give confidence (especially since I'm one of the weakest men in the world), but whatever works, huh? Just check out gaming news sites for that sort of stuff. Nothing major (on the console announcement scale), except that Xbox One was announced and was really negatively perceived because of (1) it's now more of an entertainment center that allows you to watch TV (among other things) on your TV, (2) used games won't work the way it used to, and (3) the system has to be connected online at least once a day. Metal Gear Solid 5's details were given out in Konami's pre-E3 conference, if you're into that sort of thing. SEGA got a bunch of deals with Nintendo, including Yakuza 1&2 HD getting a Japanese release (doesn't seem to have plans to release this worldwide, since the series producer said he wanted to see how will Wii U players, a different group from PS3 players, react, rather than making sales), Sonic Lost World on Wii U and 3DS (check the third party board), Mario & Sonic 2014 (Wii U only, no 3DS version), and a future not-in-2013 Sonic game being Nintendo-exclusive. NAMCO's Tales series won't be out for Xbox One, PS4 or Wii U in forseeable future. Capcom gave away details of Monster Hunter 4 and Ace Attroney 5 in a Nintendo Direct. Nintendo announced Luigi U retail version (to cater for those without NSMBU and those without Internet connection - take that, Microsoft) and released a load of Mario & Luigi 4 screenshots and artwork, and Nintendo's E3 Nintendo Direct is 3 days from now at the time of writing. No details of E3's biggest news (3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros) released as of now. ...Yeah, just a few random, series-specific news. You'll have to wait for E3 for the big announcements.

Welcome back, Da Robot! Hope you're still in one piece! Let's see, gaming news... - Nintendo announced price cuts for both the 3DS and Wii U. - You no longer have to pay to upgrade your Wii Virtual Console games to Wii U. - Retro Studios is working on an original IP that will be revealed at E3. - Nintendo and Mistwalker are working on The Last Story 2. - Capcom announced a new Mega Man game. It's 2D, but has fancy HD graphics. They also got Keiji Inafune to supervise. - Mega Man Legends 3 is also back in development, and will be playable at E3. - Konami announced a new 2D Castlevania for the Wii U, directed by Koji Igarashi. - Contra 5 and Gradius VI are also in development (by WayForward) for Wii U. - Square Enix announced a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for both Wii U and 3DS. - Final Fantasy XV will take place in the Crystal Chronicles world and be exclusive to Wii U. - An HD version of Einhander is being released for all download services. - Sega announced that Yu Suzuki is working on Shenmue III, and Shenmue I & II HD are coming to Wii U after Yakuza I & II HD. - Sega also announced sequels to Streets of Rage, Panzer Dragoon, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio, House of the Dead, Monster World, Thunder Force and Gunstar Heroes. - All of the classic gaming companies I grew up with finally decided to get their heads out of the dirt and go back to being awesome again. ...Oh, wait. This was just a dream I had the other night. Never mind.

Woo, welcome back dude. Hope it was a worthwhile and memorable experience. It's great you have more confidence now. Anyway you returned just a few days prior to E3 so you should be getting most of the news directly like the rest of us, though Konami already had their pre-E3 press conference (talking about Castlevania Lord of Shadows and MGS5). Then ofcourse there's Microsoft's little X-Box One reveal. Hope you can find your way through this redesigned forum

Welcome back! I'm not sure how's training like that going to give confidence (especially since I'm one of the weakest men in the world), but whatever works, huh? I'll admit it's a bit more complicated than that, because I didn't really go into enough detail about it. The course in question is designed to get unemployed youth, the life skills, motivation and atributes needed to make themselves a lot more appealing to for joining the workforce (or go into future training) and change youth lives for the better (eg if they came from really shitty backgrounds invloving crime/drugs/whatever) - Skills/tasks that promote self displine/time management (forming up a platoon in formation standing at attention waiting for instructions) - Time management (doing stuff all within quick time limits (even some rare instances really short time limits which everyone failed and no one could expect us to realistically pass which I swear was deliberate) - Daily shaving/quick showering/health classes help to promote a healthy lifestyle - No access to drugs/alcohol (allowing you to pass drug/alcohol tests when you get out and search for work) - Activities that promote teamwork, Eg marching (essential for a workplace) - Outdoor activites that also promote teamwork/confidence (rock climbing/high ropes/camping/hiking/etc). - Exercise/exercise classes (Some of the fatties on the course have lost a lot of weight just from this) - Speech classes (because not everyone is good at public speaking) - CV creation classes - Job interview classes - Various other classes (Eg first aid course, basic financial and budgeting skills) - Daily fatigues (eg the "section" you are in either cleans the barracks surrounds (outside area), toliets or showers to a high standard on a rotating roster (under a time limit), also helps when you go back home (not for me though but maybe for the lazier folks who never did it before) - Presentablity/uniformity. Dressing correctly to appear the same as everyone else in your platoon as instructed, (eg if intructed to put on/off jackets, everyone in the platoon must do it so they all look the same) Also ironing, making sure your clothes look good at all times (it's important to look good like say for a job interview) - Room inspections that mean your room must be clean and tidy/presentable to a high standard and following the correct layout. (you wouldn't want a messy worker in your workplace now would you?) I probably haven't got everything there, but fuck it, the course is designed to put you out of your confort zone (something I really needed) and I hated some parts of it (that caused a lot of stress and such) but I pulled through and made it to the end. Welcome back, Da Robot! Hope you're still in one piece! Let's see, gaming news... - Nintendo announced price cuts for both the 3DS and Wii U. - You no longer have to pay to upgrade your Wii Virtual Console games to Wii U. - Retro Studios is working on an original IP that will be revealed at E3. ...Oh, wait. This was just a dream I had the other night. Never mind. Those 3 actually seemed pretty legit when I read them and then it went downhill . . . But other than that I'm been catching up, Xbox One with it's compulary need a a online chack every 24 hours sounds bloody stupid, and than there's that whole "game loaning"/publisher decided no used game lockout stuff, mandatory Kinect. What the hell is Microsoft thinking? Do regular human beings work there anymore? Saw the May Nintendo Direct, Pikmin 3 still looks awesome, new Nintendo/Sonic game partnership is also a pretty interested announcement to hear. Also feels bizarre to leave and now come back and to all these pre E3 game showing/announcements.

I guess you just have a high standard for yourself. I simply embrace my flaws, because really, those aren't going to get me unemployed.
Xbox One is really silly, even given Microsoft's complete lost in direction in other areas (mostly software UI). I guess anything can happen when you put a clown at the head of a company.
And now we're only two days until Nintendo's E3 Nintendo Direct. I can hardly wait.

Those 3 actually seemed pretty legit when I read them and then it went downhill . . . Well, actually it's rumored that Retro will reveal a new IP. I hope they do, because I've been wanting to see an original series from them for years now. Pretty much all of Nintendo's other collaborators created their own original games: HAL made Kirby, Intelligent Systems made Fire Emblem and Wars, Treasure made Sin & Punishment, Silicon Knights made Eternal Darkness, Rare... well, they took their original IPs to Microsoft. But still, I'd like to see Retro have a franchise to call its own. Also, Yakuza 1 & 2 HD on the Wii U is true, but only in Japan.
