Hooray for Tei's return!
I've kinda been avoiding Eternal Darkness, particularly with regards to Nintober. It certainly was eligible, just like Banjo-Kazooie was... But I tend to operate on a theory that if it couldn't make it into Smash Bros., it probably shouldn't still be considered a Nintendo franchise.
Don't know why Captain Syrup wouldn't be applicable! She was the only villain in the old All-Stars back in the day. Glad someone voted her up!
I may have to add these in the morning now though. I'm sleepy...

Like The Qu, these aren't all necessarily my favorites as much as characters I want to see you draw. I also picked characters that other people picked just to up their votes.

I think Dyack did confirm that Nintendo owns the Eternal Darkness IP a few weeks ago. I know they own the rights to the Sanity system, which is why Silicon Knights' Precursor Games' new project, Shadows of the Eternals, isn't a proper sequel to ED - just a spiritual successor. That way they can dance around any potential copyright-infringement by remaking the Sanity system without having to call it as such. Denis Dyack is kind of a sneaky butthole, as proved by how he's using loopholes in the legal system to avoid paying Epic millions/billions of dollars they owe from a lawsuit. Anyway, if Alex isn't viable, then I suppose I'll cast my extra vote to K. Rool. |

The rules:1. Pick your Top 10 Nintendo characters. The order doesn't matter. All characters receive 1 vote. 2. If the game isn't named after them, make sure to include the name of the game/series as well. 3. You may only pick ONE character per series in your list. (For now) Given that different series have different amount of characters and the way of their importance being different (using my top 2 series as examples, Kirby gives all spotlight to main characters, while side characters have their fair share in FE), I think this poll is going to be biased towards certain series. Anyway... Makkun (Sutte Hakkun) Nah (Fire Emblem: Awakening) Mighty Gazelle (F-ZERO X, F-ZERO GX) The baby (Super Metroid) Ella (Mario Golf: Advance Tour) HR-D3 (Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby's Return to Dream Land) Eoleo (Golden Sun: The Lost Age, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn) Male Wireframe (Super Smash Bros. Melee) Gearmo (Drill Dozer) Serena del Mar (Wave Race: Blue Storm) Besides the first two, I'm not picking my top characters per series. I just want to see them drawn. I was originally going for Escargoon for Kirby (jokingly as a loophole abuse that he's an anime character that has cameoed in Mass Attack and Dream Collection), but I ultimately decided against it, seeing the amount of Escargoon pics that can be found online. Since I'm absolutely sure that all characters I picked will get only 1 point, I don't really care too much. |

I found this last year with the third party polls: In games a large ensemble cast (such as fighting games), one character rarely got enough votes to be drawn, even if the series itself got tons of votes. Like now, there are loads of votes for Fire Emblem, but only 1 vote per character... And nobody has voted for series mainstay, Marth! Same goes for Pokémon, really.
But that's fine. This poll has already produced some unexpected characters in the Top 5, and future polls will be structured differently to produce different results. If I feel Fire Emblem is lacking representation, then a Fire Emblem specific poll will dig up a few. I may also have to force a handful of other main characters in (like Marth, Peach) if they don't get the votes, because it would just be weird not to have them.

Tamagon for life, sucka! Why can't Marth be another shoe-in like the 'original 12' though? Yeah sure, he didn't appear in the N64 game, but at this point the franchise he represents is bigger than some of the other 10 and I don't think anyone would disagree he is more of an all-star than Jigglypuff. ...His only problem is he's just so dull compared to the other FE main characters to the point that I doubt he'd get a spot even with a FE specific poll  |

I voted with the assumption that all the Nintendo Smash characters would be added sooner or later. Bowser and Marth being absent would be weird.

It's definitely likely that straggler Smash Bros. characters will be added sooner rather than later, especially if their franchises don't get representation.
