Okay with only less than 7 6 hours left (until the E3 Nintendo Direct) and with the confirmation that there will be a SSB trailer of some sort from Sakurai, anyone want to have a guess at who could appear in it. (old and new)
Previous SSB game E3 reveals. (probably going to be more like the Brawl reveal trailer since Melee was probably near finished in terms of development time)
Melee
Brawl
Game name predictions
SSB Forever/Fourever/4ever SSB Clash SSB Fray SSB Cross/Crossfight/Cross Melee SSB U and 3D (keep it simple?)
Characters in trailer prediction
Old Mario, Link, Pikachu, Kirby, Samus (in suit), Pit, Ness, Marth (Shadow Dragon version)
New -Little Mac -Takamaru -Ridley -Alph (replaces Olimar since Pikmin 3 is coming out) -Shulk (Xenoblade) -Barbara the Bat
New third party guest fighters -Travis Touchdown (or a new Suda 51 character from a future NMH3 game, Suda 51 is in the credits list for SSBB) -Mega Man (Capcom wanting to push the character back into the spotlight) -Dragon Quest character (positive Square Enix relationship?) -Pac Man (Since Namco is developing)
Items Mii assist trophy Tingle assist trophy
Stages Battlefield stage WuHu island stage Rhythm Heaven stage (something crazy vibrant to contrast the previous two)
And then the trailer will probably end with releases 2014, 15 years of smashing annivsary (1999-2014)
I'll admit, I bet most of this (95%) will be wrong as it would be too many characters for them to show (compared to the SSBB E3 reveal) but we don't exactly get a thread like this (with a short timeframe) for the SSB franchise every often now do we?

We can't expect to be right, but a Rhythm Heaven stage would be pretty awesome!
Aside from what's been said, Link will probably have his Skyward Sword design. I also somehow doubt Pit would be in the trailer.

Here' let me give you the skinny, straight from the depths of my arse:
A trailer shows off Nintendoland. Mii's run around, dressed as various Nintendo characters. A Mario Mii looks at a Link Mii. The audience growns at Nintendo showing off Nintendoland 2. Then... BAM! Real Mario jumps in. Real Link jumps in. Real Pikachu and Real Kirby jump in. Title Screen. Surprise, bitches, its Smash Bros: Showdown. Shows familiar Smash Bros gameplay, with these four characters, on a NintendoLand themed stage. Screen 'zooms' out, revealing 4 sets of hands 'playing the game', with different controller combinations (Wiimote, Wiimote / Nunchuk, Pro controller, Classic Controller) showing off local multiplayer A Miiverse style notification comes up. NEWCOMER TAKAMARU WANTS TO JOIN THE FIGHT Takamaru jumps in, shows off a bit. NEWCOMER LITTLE MAC WANTS TO JOIN THE FIGHT Little Mac jumps in, also shows off a bit. Footage of Mario vs. Link vs. Takamaru vs. Little Mac Zooms out again, shows 2 sets of hands playing in a traditionally American looking setting, screen splits in three, showing a pair of hands in a traditionally Japanese looking setting, and a pair of hands in a European looking setting. Online play is obviously being pushed. The 4 clash. Master Hand shows up. Screen zooms out again. Fifth player is now involved, using the Tablet controller. 5th player boss mode confirmed. Master Hand is getting the better of all the characters. Takamaru, Little Mac, Link knocked out. Only Mario left. Miiverse notification: "Looks like you could use some help" REVEALED AS FUCKING MEGAMAN Cut to black Crowd explodes.
None of this will happen.

I'd expect the Japanese name to be somewhere along the lines of "ultimate", since it went through Deluxe and X. The English name may (or may not) be another noun for combat. I don't know if that whiteboard drawing actually means anything (since the portion shown is just Brawl stuff), but I wouldn't be surprised to see Luigi and Marth available from the start this time (since they're early unlockables in Brawl in terms of VS count). Takamaru seems to be everyone's pick, which makes sense since Nintendo has been puching Murasamejo lately. Alph seems implausible, since Charlie is the leader of them all. I don't have much to expect; just things I wish to see in the game. Some of those probably clash with what others want, like I want to see Marth axed (with a Swordreaver, even though Marth has never seen one) in favour of having two FE characters from the same game. I also want to see Dillon as a "new" representative -- as a counterstatement to the whole "Nintendo has no new character-driven IP" thing. And again, more than characters, I want to see customizability. But that probably won't make it to the reveal, since characters, stages and items are always the things people care the most about. 3 hours to go, huh? I'm sooo excited! Come on come on come on...

There's no way the actual trailer can top DiU's post, but I am predicting (hoping/expecting/setting myself up for dissapointment) the game will expand on the whole assist deal, making them not items only but makes them summons MvC/JUS style and that the reveal trailer will show off a shitton of Nintendo characters, but nobody can really tell who will be fighters and what majority will be assists. Also tripping. Veterans will be tripping on new stages. Newcomers trip into screen. Tripping.

I'd bet small amounts of change Takamaru will be in the trailer. He seems like one Sakurai would want to throw in as soon as possible.
