Interesting read. Personally, I'm all for it. Sure, I'd like to see whoever I like to take part in Smash Bros., but I far prefer no representation if the alternative is misrepresentation. They've already successfully destroyed certain characters by making them out of character in Brawl, so I definitely won't want to see that happen here.
I understand that Brawl terribly misrepresented a lot of characters, but what did they "destroy"? I don't know what you mean by that.

Apart from the fur textures, he looks exactly the same. Same gooby face, same proportions, same look. The fur for TF looks like shag carpet, the SSB one's looks more cartoony. But they're both fine.
Aside from the fact that Tropical Freeze looks like real gorilla fur, the proportions of the face are off too. It gives DK an even goofier smile. The jaw is less pronounced and the mouth extends way too far to the corners of his face.
The likely scenario with the Mega Man trailer is that the CGI model was designed by a different team than the in-game model was. Brawl's trailers and SSE cutscenes used models that were just about identical to the in-game models, but for this game's trailers and character portraits, they seem to be using models that are more detailed, and in a couple of cases, differently detailed.
I think his in-game model fur is supposed to look "rougher" to suit the setting of a fighting game. I don't mind it.

Ah, nice. I was hoping to see any kind of new information through these daily screenshots. They probably won't show new stages at this point, but they can show any new attack moves (bar Final Smash, which they're probably still keeping as secrets) or new things about existing stages.
It looks more like a stage hazard to me, as opposed to 1P mode boss.
Between classic Mega Man's Wii U model complete with his arsenal and this stage, the Smash Bros. teams really are doing more justice to Mega Man than the current Capcom ever will.

I'm more interested in that spark of light. Is it an accompanying effect, perhaps for the Wii Fit Trainer's smash up+A, or is it something from an off-screen character?
Oh, and the last day's 3DS scrolling stage pretty much confirmed what I suspected earlier: the two Mario stages are actually different sections of the same one. I'll even say Warp Pipes will be used for transportation, since the sky section is obvious moving towards one if you see it in animated fashion.
I really want to see these stages formally introduced.

People are speculating its either a neutral special or a down special, called Sun Salutation, based on the yoga move of the same name, which is how she is posed in the picture. It seems like a pretty reasonable assumption to me.
nocturnal YL: Almost done writing the text for my review. I still have to do double-checking and pick screenshots. This will be a long post, though not longer than my Surge Concerto DX review. This should be done in a few days, I think

Nester the Lark: I like that Nintendo said this Direct would be for games launching in 2024, and then announced a bunch of stuff for 2025. (Full thoughts later.)

nocturnal YL: For some reason, AI-generated articles and videos tend to start the final paragrah with "in conclusion" like English students doing writing composition assignments. This makes those articles rather easy to detect as AI-generated.

Nester the Lark: In college, if I ended a paper *without* using the words "in conclusion," then the instructors often assumed that the last paragraph wasn't intended to be one, and they would call me out for not having a conclusion.

Nester the Lark: Or maybe I'm actually bad at writing conclusions. Funnily, I would get praise for my introductions.

Nester the Lark: I was looking to see what my previous thoughts were on SNK Heroines, but it doesn't seem that I actually wrote much.

Nester the Lark: Ironically, making a thread about why I don't play fighting games has led me to playing fighting games.

Nester the Lark: I still feel like maybe I should've bought the Miss X DLC for SNK Heroines. I suppose it's not too late, but I'm already getting a little tired of it, and I'm moving on to Smash for Wii U in my exploration of casual-friendly fighting games.
Jul 14, 2024 8:24:29 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Ah, Smash Wii U, where bosses and CPU players can casually take me down. Certainly a casual game. Maybe I'm just bad at playing this kind of game and you'll do better.

nocturnal YL: I still haven't moved on and I'm currently still doing Atelier Shallie DX postgame stuff. I can make better items than the guides I read in some cases, while in others I'm still missing specific item properties.

Nester the Lark: After playing Smash, it's clear that what SNK Heroines really needed was more game modes. Particularly single-player game modes.

Nester the Lark: Somehow, I think I've gotten better at playing Smash.

Nester the Lark: Apparently, SNK is working on a new Art of Fighting game, as well as a Samurai Showdown action-RPG. They casually mentioned this during their developer panel at EVO.

Nester the Lark: I've gotten bored of Smash after about a week, the same as with SNK Heroines. I'd say Smash is still the gold standard for accessible fighting games.

Nester the Lark: I've started a new game of Ys Seven. I don't know if I'll play it all the way through (it's ~40 hours), but I wanted to see if still holds up to my memories.
Jul 22, 2024 9:20:40 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Actually, Ys Seven is probably shorter than 40 hours. I remembered that I spent a lot of time grinding skills, which was completely unnecessary, so it's maybe closer to 30 hours.

nocturnal YL: I love how Fry just randomly shows up and leaves an announcement that NinDB will transform, effective next day.
Jul 25, 2024 12:21:10 GMT -5
Fryguy64: I'm also wary these days of announcing anything before I know I can finish it. Which in this case is "about 24 hours before I desperately want to share it"
