Wrote this for a GAF post, thought I'd cross post it here, because why not? I went through the video and screens on the site and tried to look at exactly what we know so far. Because everyobdy loves over analysing Smash Bros stuff! Here's what I got.... First, the trailers, if you want to look at them again: www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oXkjMwqCbwcwww.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cDgNn0Mg79YSo, what new info we have from these trailers, and the screens on the site.... Villager has slingshot, bowling ball, shovel tree cutting, sapling run and trip (Sakurai be trollin'), boxing gloves, whatever is going on here, balloon fighter hat recovery. I have no idea what is happening here., but I suspect it links to the bit in the trailer where he seems to absorb Samus' shot, and put it in his pocket. Not one 3DS screenshot of him shown, though. I hope he isn't a Wii U exclusive, though you would think that, if he was, they wouldn't have put him in the very first trailer. Still, curious. Megaman has the moves shown in the trailer, also confirmed for 3DS version. Pit seems to have Uprising weapons. And Fox is apparently into bestiality now, or whatever you call the love between a male humanoid fox and a robot dog Stages: Wii U: - Battlefield (duh) - Animal Crossing stage - looks exactly like Smashville from Brawl, but with updated visuals. - Skyloft stage - seems to just be a stage that tours around the locations, ala the Mario Sunshine stage in the Brawl. - Boxing ring stage - for Little Mac, surely? Though I guess a boxing gloved Villager could make use of it. - Megaman stage - this seems to be the best pic of it3DS: - Battlefield again - Spirit Tracks train, with conductor Link - would they have a Toon Link playable AND a Toon Link so clearly visible on the stage? Seems you can be dumped off the end of the train, and have to catch up, like in Melee's FZero track- Nintendogs stage, so strange - New Super Mario Bros Stage- Initially I thought this was Pokemon Stadium, but look at these pics, which seem to be the same place: Here's a shot. Here's another shot and one more. No idea what it could be. - whatever this is - this appears to be the same place- This one is clearly a different stage to the last couple (unless they are a transforming Pokemon Stadium stage) but I have no idea what it is. At a stretch, could possibly be part of the NSMB stage, but I doubt it. - Finally, at the end of the 3DS section of Trailer 1, there's another stage, with a big wheel and grass... seems to remind me of something out of DKC Returns, but I'm not sure. Looks like theres more mysteries with 3DS version at the moment. Ah good old Smash hype and speculation, I've missed you. EDIT: Oh, totally forgot! That yellow thing at the end of the Megaman trailer. I'm not actually super versed in Megaman stuff, so I don't know if thats a Megaman thing, or its building up to another reveal? Maybe the most badass Pacman reboot ever?

Looks like he's shooting off fireworks. Could it be Gerudo Valley? Wasn't there a tent like that by the entrance where the builders were supposed to be staying while they fixed the bridge or something? EDIT: This is the best picture I can find. Looks about right to me, the Smash Bros screenshot does seem to have a tiny bit of waterfall visible off to the right there. EDIT: Oh, totally forgot! That yellow thing at the end of the Megaman trailer. I'm not actually super versed in Megaman stuff, so I don't know if thats a Megaman thing, or its building up to another reveal? Maybe the most badass Pacman reboot ever? It's this guy. I have no idea what the other stadium place is, but some of the crowd seem to be wearing viking helmets.. is there a Nintendo game about vikings?

Dayumn you quick! - Villager grabbing Samus' missle seems to be the same as grabbing the beam yeah. Probably based on how you can stuff anything, from beds to closets, in your pockets (in leaf form) in AC. I'd guess it'll be an attack similar to G&W's charge attack, only easier to use? - I thought the flamin/wood stuff was Pokemon Stadium too, but it also reminds me of FE: Awakening's arena mission/map. Since arenas have been in FE since the first game this could very well be possible. - I thought the boxing ring was a new take on Final Destination, but a Punch-Out stage makes way more sense (that or it's based on Kirby Super Star's boxing room, but not likely since there's no Dedede's plastered anywhere) - That thing that reminded you of DKC:Returns reminded me of Adventure Mode, the way the camera followed Mario. Hopefully this doesn't mean Adventure mode takes place in generic realistic land again... - The yellow blob on Megaman's stage is Yellow Devil: notorious, very difficult boss from the first game that made easier reappearances later on. Probably a stage hazard (F YEAH!) Also I'm glad the development team is having fun taking pictures for the official site like ever

I wonder if the Yellow Devil stuff is indeed just a stage hazard, or if its implying something else. The trailer ends with it as a bit of a kicker. I'm suspecting its to imply boss fights return, perhaps with a larger role.
Gerudo valley seems spot on. Good work.
FE arena also seems like it could very well be a strong possibility, the crowd in one of the shots looked weird, but they could actually be knights.
Good sleuthing, guys.
Seems that, so far, all the 3DS version's stages are based on handheld game arenas, and the WiiU's are based on home console games, except for the fact Smashville seems to most closely resemble New Leaf. I wonder if that's just how their choosing to show it, or if the two will have a different set of stages. As I said to a friend of mine, part of me wants the 3DS and WiiU versions to be the same, so I don't have to buy two consoles and two games to play everything, but part of me wants them to be different as possible, so that we essentially get 2 new Smash games at once.
...I really should go to bed.

I'm going to have to second the Ferox Arena and Gerudo Valley. I guess that means we'll probably get some character from Awakening, most probably Chrom.
Speaking of newcomers, I'm surprised they showed off only 2 of them in the trailer. I guess Megaman was more than enough, though. He really would have just overshadowed anyone else shown. Either that, or they're not going to reveal everything like they did last time, instead leaving hints here and there.

The boxing arena stage has the Smash Bros. sign on its ground surface. Could be just one of those basic stages.

The boxing arena stage looks more like a Smash Bros original to me. The wooden spike stage look very likely that it IS Ferox's arena in FE13. (I'd have preferred them drawing elements from some future FE than FE13, like Melee did with FE6.) This looks like Battlefield to me. And for characters and stages, my bet is that both games will share characters, but stages will be unique. Speaking of newcomers, I'm surprised they showed off only 2 of them in the trailer. I guess Megaman was more than enough, though. He really would have just overshadowed anyone else shown. Either that, or they're not going to reveal everything like they did last time, instead leaving hints here and there. Sakurai once said this game will not be as new character-centric, so I guess they wanted to maybe half the number of newcomers this time. Taking that into account, showing 2 newcomers makes sense here. EDITOkay, laugh all you want, Wii Fit's trainer is in the game.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's FE13's arena. The background in the video I posted is the exact same as in one of the Smash screens. Boxing ring could be a Smash original, with the logo 'n all, but Brawl had 'Smashville' as the AC town location. Who knows this could be Punch-Out's 'Smash League'. Came here to post that. Hahahahaha Wii Fit Girl? Ohh, that's awful. Just awful. But in a funny way. I want them to go all out with that character, let her attack with Wii Nun-Chucks, let her slide into characters with the Wii Board. If Final Smashes are still a thing (and looking at Samus' mega beam, they probably are) I'm dieing to know what Wii Fit Girl's ultimate move would be. edit: I guess throwing out a bunch of rainbow clones or whatever Hopefully this means all newcomers get videos like this. 's giving me F-zero GX vibes

Double posting a Smash Developer Direct, giving more insight to the newcomers' moves and other changes.
Megaman's 8bit SFX make me all giddy
Also there's actually a difference in stages between the two versions, so I guess cross-platform multiplayer is out of the window?

Super Smash Bros. 4. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Villager and Mega Man? I expected them to appear. It was a matter of when, not if. But the Wii Fit Trainer? What. The. Fuck. I know no one at SmashBoards saw her coming and we discussed hundreds of possible Nintendo/third-party characters. Sheriff, Duck Hunt Dog, even that red-haired guy from the Japanese-only hanafuda game that is exclusive to Club Nintendo members... but I am positive no one saw her coming. WOW! I am sure the Wii Fit Trainer will be pretty interesting... there has to be a reason why Sakurai picked her out of all female characters who actually have fanbases. I am warming up to her after watching the trailer that confirmed her. Isn't it just me or does her up special move involves hula hoops? Meh, I suppose she is a better choice than Female Wire Frame from Melee. LOL It is kinda funny how Nintendo's newcomers are both from casual franchises. I wonder if Nintendo is trying to attract the female demographic to Smash with Animal Crossing and Wii Fit characters. 2014 cannot come fast enough! I want SSB4 and I want it now! EDIT: If Little Mac is in the game, then... Little Mac X Wii Fit Trainer = my OTP

Wii Fit Trainer is interesting. Literally no one expects her - even if you expect someone from those Wii whatever games, you won't think about her. And that's exactly why I like this choice. They managed to find a surprise character when almost every Nintendo-related character has been considered by at least some fans.
I'm glad they reworked Pit and Bowser's moves. This is starting to give me a Brawl- feel, where everyone is powerful and as a result, everything feels chaotic.
If Falco and Wolf ever return, they really have to change their special moves or at least their Final Smash.
I hope they start talking about things that aren't characters. Stages, items and so on.
Oh, and anyone knows who is SSB Link based on? Doesn't look like Skyward Sword Link to me.

I like Bowser's new model in SSB4 over his Brawl model. His new model seems like it is based on Bowser's Inside Story. Samus's new model seems like it is based on Other M.
Villager's appearance/model is based on Villager's Brawl trophy (he would have looked like that if he was playable in Brawl) and City Folk box art.
What I like about Villager and Wii Fit Trainer is that they showed that characters don't have to know how to fight to be playable in Smash. They fight by just doing non-violent activities.

I'm personally surprised Fox kept his Command design, but at least he doesn't look bad in it like he did in that game.
Also, looks like the Smash team found a way to throw Balloon Fight in there, one way or another. If I recall correctly, they were considering Balloon Fighter as a character in Melee, along with Mach Rider and the Ice Climbers.

Oh, no! They're replacing the Soccer Ball from Soccer with one from Wii Fit.
