There's a very small Mario reference in the game Joy Mecha Fight. In the background of the Eye robot's stage in the first group of robots, there's a torn poster that says YOSI MA O Live ( you can't see all of Mario's name because of a tear in the poster, but you can tell that's what its supposed to be.) I can't post a picture (sorry!!!  ), but I could send you one if you want. |

It's on the Famicom. It was developed and published by Nintendo, there's info on it on this site. It's a cool little fighting game about robots. I suggest trying it out to anyone who hasn't played it, it's a pretty fun game.

I thought that too when I first saw that pic... That line above the tear looks more like it would be a 'T' than 'RI'... Also, before this post, I didn't even know about this game! I really gotta take a look at all the Japanese NES games on this site  |

Ahh, Joy Mecha Fight is one game I'm shocked never got released outside of Japan. It's a fighting game with robots (cute and cool ones) and a Mega Man-esque story.
It looks like Yosi Mato to me as well... however "Mato" is a name that's been credited in some Famicom games, so perhaps it's that. I couldn't beat the final boss though, so I haven't seen the credits yet.

Well, I just beat Joy Mecha Fight again (the last boss is a lot easier if exploit the total cheapness of the flame robot), and there's no mention of a Yosi Mato anywhere in the credits. And now that I look at it, that is more than likely what it says. Oh well, my bad  . |
