Is it just me, or does this qualify as a Zelda reference?

That green fairy reminds me of the Subcon people from Super Mario Bros. 2.

Zelda didn't invent putting fairies in bottles.

Link in a Mario game! Unlike Mario characters in Zelda games, I believe this is a first.

World 6-3, Hands On Hall, is called Tatchi! Nazo no karakuri-jō (Touch! Mysterious Mechanism Castle), which is probably Murasame reference. It's the only level with the Japan theme too, as far as I'm aware.

That stage has a Mushroom World clone. And it has never occurred to me that this could be a reference, since it's a puzzle stage and all (thus mysterious).

I'm sure I read an interview which stated that the level was meant to be Chinese themed.
