I know of two cameos in this game, so I thought that was enough for a thread. 1) A character resembling Peppy Hare teaches players about the premium version after touching "About Purchasable Premium Version" on the title screen (I believe trying to go to the shipyard store when you haven't bought the premium version can get you to access this explanation too) and when you purchase it, he thanks you and tells you to enjoy it. He says "Like you haven't seen a talking rabbit before?! Stop fooling around." after you apparently wonder who he is. 2) According to the Japanese version of the last Nintendo Direct, the Japanese name of submarine number 03, "Neptune" is "ニンテン" (Ninten). Are there any more?

This is also a double cameo, as a talking rabbit sells the DLC games in StreetPass: Mii Plaza.

Nintendo Life interview with SD:SW producer Tadashi Sugiyama and director Takaya Imamura from Nintendo confirms that it is Peppy Hare and reason why he's there. NL: We noticed that Peppy Hare from Star Fox has a cameo in this title - what was the reasoning behind adding him in? Is this game set in the same universe, as some fans have assumed? Imamura: At first, we had some dodgy salesman character acting as a guide, but this turned out to be a bit too shady. Instead we looked for a character that users are more familiar with and gives off a nicer impression, hence we went with Peppy Hare. I’m sorry to say though that there’s no connection to the Star Fox universe www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/04/interview_a_look_through_the_periscope_at_steel_diver_sub_wars

The Blue Marine from SF64 is now a sub in game. I feel undeservedly proud because I told Giles Goddard I'd buy one months ago. Also, the Giant Z-Class from the original SD is also a DLC sub.

I'm very happy to see this happen. (Does it have space for a crew of 4 like the original BM?) I thought there would never be a BM cameo after NoE tweeted this morse code message back in Feburary... ..- -... -- .- .-. .. -. . ... / -.-. .- -. .----. - / -.. --- / .- / -... .- .-. .-. . .-.. / .-. --- .-.. .-.. (Translates to something like, "Submarines Can't do a Barrel Roll" ) What's next for Nintendo sub cameo?: Startropics Sub-C? Super Mario Land's Sub-pop? The Wario Sub from WL:TSD? IMPORTANT INFO: The Blue Marine costs nothing/Free to get the in game shop! (Not accessible to the trial version). EDIT: Free until June 19th.
