It's finally happening, Nintendo's ending the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, which means all DS, Wii, WiiWare, and DSiWare games that utilized NWFC will no longer be able to do so. It's not exactly a surprise but it still sucks that it's happening. www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/vyWpoM6CBIe6FjW8NIY7bvzOrgBURhzwWell either way, you now have less than three months to make sure you get all those Professor Layton puzzles.

BUMP! To anyone reading this, well . . . you have just under a week left to the 20th. I was think of playing Mario Kart Wii or possibly some of my other Wii WiFi games this weekend (SSBB, The Last Story) since this will be our last chance. And for those that don't know why this is happening, it due to Nintendo using Gamespy for there DS/Wii online servers, and Gamespy (and servers for many PC titles) will shut down with it. www.pcworld.com/article/2141200/gamespy-is-shutting-down-but-it-doesnt-matter-if-youre-proactive.html

I'll be sad that my scores for Sin & Punishment 2 will be going offline. I should pop it in just to see how far they've been knocked down since last year.
Does anyone still play The Last Story online? That was pretty fun.

(I'll admit it might be less than 24 hours) This weekend I went and got my Wii online at a house I was looking after (because for some reason my Wii or 3DS doesn't work at my current location). Then I played Mario Kart Wii, got some good races, though I saw a lot of Funky Kong's and some bizzare mayhem happen with them messing around by driving backwards. It was very hard to keep my online ranking up (over 8000), even if I came second, I would lose 7 points. Tried battle mode, got players and had some very close matches, but still a lesser battle mode compared to past MK games. Next day played SSBB, played 3 matches with against 2 others, tried team battle but got nothing. Watched two spectator matches, won coins on the first match (team brawl), lost the 2nd (free for all). Looked at Sin & Punishment 2 leaderboards, looked at "stage 0" and "stage all" results for Isa, Kachi and Isa & Kachi, happened to be in top 30 twice . . . for local region and than completely obliterated by the scores for Europe and Europe/America rankings. (Some guy at the top has more than 8000 enemies destroyed, while the next is like 7000 and/or 6000, holy crap that's high). Tried The Last Story . . . It took a very, very long time to find anyone, (Wii Remote disconnecting multiple times from lack of use, went and did chores around the house while it waited) found 1 player for deathmatch and lost horribly and then played co-op found 1 person (not the same guy), lost horribly against the boss. Played deathmatch again, fought previous deathmatch opponent again, still lost.
But as the official Nintendo Wi-fi connection service ends, a new unofficial Wii homebrew challenger may be able to replace it . . . www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=819724. . . Dawn of a brand new day . . . ?

You know how Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 have DLC... so when Nintendo shuts down Wii online service, does that mean people who have those games but did not get DLC yet... will not be able to get DLC after tomorrow? Well, except for those who already got DLC beforehand... just like how some people who got Donkey Kong Country games before they were taken down still can play them but not the poor souls who were too late to get those games, correct?
And what about those extra chapters in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years?

And what about those extra chapters in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years? Free downloadables will cease to function, while paid DLC and the Wii Shop Channel will continue. I do not miss Nintendo WFC, by the way. I barely use it. Playing with strangers who hack or adopt overused joke playstyles (see taunt matches) is not fun, and the one game that I play online with (Excitebike) is long dead.

Thanks for the clarification, nocturnal YL. Since the DLC in those Mega Man and Final Fantasy games are paid instead of free, I don't have to rush and get those DLC tonight. I am saving up to get Mario Kart 8 and Kirby Triple Deluxe at the end of the month... plus there are still some Virtual Console games I want to get from Wii Shop Channel (my digital library has 157 games so far). Also, I don't miss Nintendo WFC either... I only used it once... that one time I played Brawl with Johans Nidorino, good times.

For posterity, here are all of my scores and rankings with Kachi on Normal difficulty: Stage # - Score (Destroyed) Rank - US / North America / International Stage 0 - 7,821,974 (161) Rank - 119 / 169 / 273 Stage 1 - 16,593,397 (451) Rank - 53 / 73 / 121 Stage 2 - 36,963,143 (893) Rank - 57 / 80 / 115 Stage 3 - 32,019,422 (914) Rank - 11 / 17 / 23 Stage 4 - 35,186,810 (961) Rank - 6 / 8 / 12 Stage 5 - 15,182,374 (634) Rank - 6 / 8 / 13 Stage 6 - 18,517, 397 (613) Rank - 16 / 21 / 32 Stage 7 - 5,449,498 (228) Rank - 47 / 60 / 86 Full game - 143,900,467 (4,423) Rank - 5 / 10 / 15 I only really did serious score runs with Kachi on Normal, so I didn't check to see what my ranks were with Isa or Isa & Kachi or on any other difficulties. My worst ranking is on Stage 0 probably because it's really short and easy, and thus more competitive. I didn't really get serious about it, to be honest. My full game run, however, is my highest ranking. I assume it's because fewer people attempted it. It's an endurance run (2-3 hours), and I never got past Stage 6. Not bad for a one-life run, tho. I think my favorite stage is 4 (the forest), so I probably practiced that one the most. Interesting that my stage 5 ranking is almost exactly the same. Ah, well. Farewell, Sin & Punishment leaderboards.
