Anyone noticed that despite the many references to Mii-related things in this game, no actual Miis are found so far?
So far, we have these stages:
- StreetPass Quest II stage - Nintendogs stage - Tomodachi Collection stage - PilotWings Resort stage
And Mii characters are nowhere to be found in these. The StreetPass Quest II stage is especially glaring, as the Dark Emperor is seen guarding an empty cage. No kidnapped king, no heroes.
And since Miis are a class of character rather than a specific character, their appearance in other places shouldn't exclude them from appearing in those stages.
What's happened to them? Are they even in?

I'd be really surprised if Miis aren't playable this time. There's plenty of games to pull a moveset from now, unlike last time when there was really just Wii Sports.

I dunno. I mean, the big problem is that Miis are...well, Miis. If they're playable, that doesn't exclude them, as YL said, from appearing in those places. And if they aren't, there's just as little reason to keep them out of those places...assuming there isn't something else going on.
As far as whether they're playable or not, I only hope they aren't, but I won't bet for or against it. I mean, Miis are just your avatars, but at the same time they're your avatars. How would the game determine their speed, their weight, their power? Would that be a fair representation of you? And if not, why? Because you're thinner than your Mii's weight indicates? Because you're an athletic sprinter and the Mii plods along like a sloth? Because you've broken jaws with your bare fists but your Mii can't even do it with a lead pipe? It'd be rather insulting, and the other side of it leaves the game open to God Mode Sues or Min Max Munchkins, either way making for an obscenely broken character.

Well, there aren't any other games that alter your Mii's abilities based on what you can do in real life, are there? I'm faster than my sister, but our Miis run around the Wii Sports baseball field at the same speed. I don't see why Smash should be different.

Maybe. Still, I'm skeptical of a pseudo-custom avatar being playable. I should probably compile a list of my issues with the idea one day. =/

Prisoner king spotted in the Smash Bros. Direct's stage reel. Seems like the absence of Miis was just the result of Pic of the Day using a developer's build of the game.
