So, in a couple of weeks on June 2nd, it will mark my ninth anniversary on the NinDB forum. Nine years! Some of you have been here a little longer than that, and the forum, itself, will be 10 years old on June 22. Not to get mushy or anything, but I just wanted to take the opportunity to let you guys know how much I appreciate you all. I'm sure I've talked about this before, but when I first came here, it was because I was looking for a gaming community where I could talk about games that just happened to be on Nintendo platforms without anyone jumping in to randomly tell me that Nintendo sucks. But I resisted joining any Nintendo fan communities (and in particular, Nintendo's official forum), because I wasn't interested in talking to blind fanboys either. I don't recall how I found NinDB (was it hosted on Planet GameCube or ClassicGaming.com back then?), but I warmed up to the forum really quickly. (Wanna see my first post?) It's never been a super busy community (especially this past year, but it's been picking back up a bit), but it's a generally friendly community. I always feel comfortable here, and it's all because of you guys. Not just those of you who've been here for the past several years, but also the newer members. Every member contributes to making this place what it is. And it's awesome. Thanks, guys!

I reached NinDB by typing "Nintendo" to the search engine. Simple as that. It was... 11 or 12 years ago, I think. Um, not long after Melee was out, anyway. I was then known as the guy who kept pestering Fry on typos (which is funny, because I myself am prone to typos). All that was before the current version of the forum.
I'm glad to have found a small community like this. Small forums always feel comfortable to talk in because you know everyone. It feels interesting to have a bunch of people in their twenties and thirties to talk about Nintendo of all things, but I love it.

Whoo! Happy anniversary. Let's see...I've been here about seven years now. I tried looking for my first post, but I've got way too many (a few shy from 6,000!)

This is a damn good community. I remember I first discovered NinDB in one of the very early versions of the site, but I only got involved a short while later.

I don't (use my time) to check these forums as often anymore, but it IS a nice, small community. Can't stay away too long. The main reason I started posting here was because of the Brawl DOJO Needded a place to share vent my hype and discuss, predict possible outcomes. Basically came for the Smash Bros, stayed to ramble about other Nintendo junk. Little bit off-topic, but I remember we actually had some online matches going in the early days of Smash Brawl/Mariokart Wii. Maybe we should try some again when Mariokart WiiU/SSB4 are released.

I don't remember how I found it, but it had something to do with cameos. It's a pretty good and super knowledgeable little community so I'm glad I've found it.

I don't remember when I joined. All I remember is that it was because of Smashchu's Nintendo RPG thread. Which ultimately turned into disaster. The funny thing is, since then I've accumulated a lot more knowledge about Nintendo and how RPGs and strategy games work. So I managed to rework that old idea accordingly.

I suppose it's kinda silly to be nostalgic for an internet community, but it is fun to go back and look at old threads from several years ago. It's interesting to see what everyone was talking about and what we were hyped for. Don't know if it's just me, but the tone seemed to be a little more loose and playful back then, too. Anyway, for the occasion, I've temporarily changed my name back to what I used when I first signed up. I can't quite remember when I changed it to Nester. I think it was originally an April Fools gag, but I ended up keeping it and using it pretty much everywhere online. I'm also using NinDB's stock Fox McCloud avatar like I did back then. I couldn't find the original, tho. I was going through a tough time in my life back then. It felt good to log into a friendly community where I could talk about video games with other Nintendo fans. After all these years, it still feels good to come to the NinDB forum.

I was introduced to this place by Johans after SBO was long gone and I was surprised to see as any familiar faces from the old site. Shrikeswind, Leon and the occasional Johans Nidorino (for obvious reasons) and parrothead come to mind. Since most of my friends either don't care for gaming or Nintendo (or at least as much as I do *twitch*), I'd come here to vent some of that fan wank, while reading other people's wank. I don't post as much as everyone else, mainly because at times I find that I wouldn't be adding anything substantial to the topic, but I do make sure to read the latest posts of the day.
What I like the most about this small community is actually what Nester already said in the first post: While this is a community centered around Nintendo, you don't see much blind fanboyism around here like you do on most Nintendo based communities. It's calm and fun to read what goes on around here.
Maybe we all should do something for the 22nd? Maybe a little tourney of a game we all have got, or some of the more artsy members could do something? I'm just throwin' ideas into the air.

Since I've been in a bit of an artsy mood myself lately, I'd be up for something. Maybe a new NinDB collab? Maybe we could draw fan art of each other. Then there's that interactive fan fic project I've been kicking around for the past six months. I was thinking of maybe turning it into something similar to that NinDB All-Stars thing that Kohta was doing.

I've actually been around for much longer than I've been posting here. It was around when Brawl was announced. I had more than plenty of free time, and I wanted to look at what other people were discussing about it. You guys were much more insightful than most, so I stuck around lurking for a long time! Not that I'm very shy, or anything. It just never occurred to me that I wanted to be a part of it all.
And now look at me! Barely posting anything! You'd think I don't even want to, but that's more to do with being busy.
Anyways, it's amazing how you've been around for so long, Nester. Maybe sometime, I can say the same!

I've occasionally lurked on other forums, myself. Sometimes I'll even sign up and post a bit, but usually it gets to the point where I lose interest and move on. It's never come to that here.

I joined when I wanted to try and help Fry with his franchise list on the NinDB site sometime in early 2005. Can't remember the rest of it from there, but that's all I know.
