Lucina is the first newcomer without an art piece on the character page, so there's more evidence towards her not being her own slot. It's like Greninja & Charizard? I mean kind of, considering they were in the same artwork (granted, Charizard was already in the game). And welcome back, Captain Falcon!! When are you ever getting a new game of your own? I'm loving this day xD And nice red herring, Sakurai! Let more non-Nintendo trophies come!!

Okay.... so now that the network traffic jam is down a bit, I can see the Smash page now. Lucina, Robin and Falcon are characters on their own, while Chrom is a Robin move. I'm glad in a way, since this can finally shut those fans up who assume stuff based on Melee and Brawl. Maybe it's just me, but I find it annoying that some people sound supportive to some characters just because they seem more likely. Lucina seems unnecessary to me considering we already have Marth, Ike, and Robin... Lucina failed to wow me when her moves look like Marth's? But I'm glad with Robin and Captain Falcon. I also don't see a significant difference between male and female Robins besides hair length... so it seemed silly that they are just model hair swaps. The original game features body size changes as well, but I don't think that will make it in. I think it'll be medium sized Robin with various facial and hair features. Lucina is the first newcomer without an art piece on the character page, so there's more evidence towards her not being her own slot. No. She just happens to share artwork and trailer with a different newcomer. Makes no sense to make a new artwork just for her, either, seeing that they share game of origin.

Lucina is the first newcomer without an art piece on the character page, so there's more evidence towards her not being her own slot. She has her own profile page though. I'm guessing her profile icon isn't wide or anything because she seems to be a total Marth clone, down to the idle animations. Maybe she inherited Roy's stats. Heck her up-B looks pretty horizontal. Anyway, both a female lord and a tome user? Heck yes, best result possible! I was hoping for both of them even though I didn't think either of them would make it without playable Chrom, but they did and the trailer handled it humorously.

I like how Robin's tomes have durability. The durability system has always been something I want to see making the transition to Smash, although it probably wouldn't make sense with the personal weapons. Can you imagine Roy's sword breaking after a mere 20 uses?
I was worried about Chrom overshadowing these two in too. More the reason to absoutely love today's update. It cast away what little doubt I have remaining towards Smash 3DS/Wii U. Not that I won't by the game without them, but I'll probably feel a little bit bitter if only Chrom makes it in, considering that he will bring relatively little Smash at this point.
I don't know what are the difference between Lucina and Marth right now, though she's probably a clone. This is good news, because clones take far less time to make. She's also effectively a Marth clone in the original game.

For all the talk about a Final Smash, it also strikes me as possible that Chrom is an Assist Trophy. And while I'm not sure on Lucina's smaller main-page icon, I don't expect that to mean anything about her.
Good update, all told, but as I'm not much of a Fire Emblem fan I can't really get too excited. Nice to see Cpn. Falcon return, even though that seemed like a given, and likewise nice to see some newcomers as well. Lucina and Robin look pretty interesting in Smash. Robin especially since his books have durability.

Back in the E3 days, a friend insisted that this would be a confirmation of Lucina in Smash. I naturally had dismissed that opinion because Amiibo is not a Smash-exclusive feature. But...

I guess my favorite part in all of this is seeing a FE character that can't be cataloged as "just another sword guy". Most on the topic has pretty much been said by now, but I'm just going to add that I expect Lucina to be an alt costume for Marth and to not have her own separate selection icon.
We know that the tomes have durability, but has there been confirmation on the swords having them as well? It would explain why Robin has both the Levin and the Bronze Sword and both blades have durability, unlike the Ragnell and the (Parallel) Falchion. Maybe he'll end up using more blades, like the Balmung or the Killing Edge, it would be nice to see those blades represented.

If Lucina is just a skin, why does she have her own page on the website?

5120×5120
That's huge. Thanks for uploading!
The first thing I did was to peek into the tomes. Unfortunately, they aren't written in any of the known languages (ancient Tellius or the script sculpted on Falchion and the Crest).

Thanks Leon! And on a side note, I missed the day you said you had a blog, haha. You didn't miss it, I never advertised it here. I also have a press pack featuring hi res images of everyone except Male Fit Trainer, Female Villager, and Pink Mac. Some are so massive they need to be resized before I can upload them.

Nintendo might not have wanted to give Lucina a big spotlight when she shares most or all of Marth's moveset. I doubt her more minor panel on the website matters much.

Trivia: besides the characters revealed at E3 2013, these are the only ones that don't have links to official game sites: - King Dedede - Mii Fighters - Pac-Man - Captain Falcon

Yoshi in the Japanese site didn't have that either, and it hasn't been retroactively added since then.
