Hopefully I'm not the only pikmin fan here. I really enjoyed the first two games. Though I've heard the third one isn't as good as it's predecessors.

Nope. There are absolutely no Pikmin fans whatsoever on this entire Nintendo-themed message board.

I've only played the original Pikmin. I liked it, but I guess I haven't been compelled enough to try the sequels.
I have heard the third one was really good, tho.

Hey, I'm a Pikmin fan! Sorta. I really liked the original, but I couldn't really get into Pikmin 2 and it's cave system. Stopping the day/night cycle when in a cave killed the sense of urgency for me. I chose Pikmin 3 for my free MK8 download, but I haven't tried it out yet I've heard nothing but good things about the game aswell though.

I guess theres a lot of conflicting reviews about. Anyways, I got some intersting theories for some things in the game, like why time doesn't pass under caves.
Time moves slower while your moving faster, meaning. What if, somehow, theres a time distortion effect, were everything under ground moves so fast, that time does not pass at all... to Olimar, loui, the president, and the pikmin, everything seems to be moving normally, but time does not pass at all.
Secondly, why is everything so small? Something obviously happened to the oxygen levels, they fell, very low. Remeber before most animals lived on land, and the only land creatures were insects? The insrcts were huge, some bigger than your torso. That was because there were very few creatures to take in that oxygen, and so it was rich,a nd the insects became huge. The oxygen levels fell and everything became smaller, much smaller. Pikmin could be evolved humans, adapted to take in CO2 and oxygen because of the fall in oxygen levels.
Third, a more fatastical theory. What if this planet is somehow made to appear a certian way to the people who find it? Olimar was very scientific, and so, a lot of new, and fantastical creatures appeared. The Koppians had probably read Olimar's writings about the planet, and new what to expect. But what about the plasm Wraith? What if, it was controlling the planet looked?
Finally, why doesn't the food rot? All the matellic items in the game are seen as rusted, with paint chipping off, but food items aren't rotting. What if, humans had vanished, just days (I'm talking about pikmin time) Before Olimar arrived? The measurments of time are so short, that it easily could have been less than an actaul day that Olimar was there, was gone, and humans are gone. This could be in the future, with new life forms evolving. Or it. Ould be my latter theory.

I actually think Pikmin 3 is great. My only issue with it is that the game actually controls better with the Wiimote + Nunchuck as opposed to the gamepad. It's not bad with the gamepad but noticeably more fluid with Wii controls.

I enjoyed some of the new ideas for enemies.
