I don't know if you guys keep up with the news, but Sony's emails were hacked and a bunch of planned movies have had some details released. For example, Avi Arad is apparently going to begin production on an animated movie based on the Mario Bros.
He's just the producer, but it'll still be kind of funny seeing Sony develop a Mario movie.

A Sony subsidiary also worked on Smash's cutscenes, so in that aspect it's not all that entirely surprising. The idea of a Mario movie itself does sound interesting, though.

It'll probably be the same Sony studio that're doing the live action-CGI Sonic movie... and Smurfs.
I've always wished they'd make a series of shorts along the lines of the Power Tennis/Toadstool Tour openings, but I don't think a whole 90-minute movie is really a good format for Mario. I'd love to be wrong, though.

I just hope Miyamoto and Iwata have a lot of input. I'd really like it to have a Mario&Luigi type story. That could fit a whole movie and there'd be a partner character to talk in place of Mario and Luigi.
I think I'll reserve judgment til the Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper movies release. I have high hopes for Ratchet after seeing the trailer, Sly...not so much.

Truthfully, I have not seen ANY of Sony's animated films, so I can't really judge if this is a good thing or not.

Well, Miyamoto had a large role in the Pikmin shorts and I've heard that people really enjoyed them. I've only seen clips but they look great, and there's no dialogue!

Does anyone know that Miyamoto was involved with the Pikmin Short Movies that were released on both 3DS and Wii U not long ago? Ninja'd by Teev.
That should be the first step in Nintendo taking their franchises in the animation department more.

This doesn't sound real. With the Sony leak, anybody can come forward claiming to have found something without citing an exact source. And everybody will believe it.
And if it is real, I doubt anything is actually going to come of it. Much like the 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover and millions of other proposals by Hollywood producers every day of the week.
