Okay this is a bizarre easter egg (but most likely a cameo since it contains PdP music and character art) concerning the GBC Pokemon Puzzle Challenge.
It was discovered a few years ago that a nearly unfinished version of Panel de Pon (for the original GB) is in this game and can be accessed via a button code.
It can be accessed the following methods depending on the hardware.
Game Boy/Super Game Boy
When the GBC-only screen displays press the A button 24 times (a chime will play when this happens) and the the B button 24 times.
Game Boy Color/Advance/3DS virtual console version
The GBC-only screen must first be triggered from the title screen by entering Up (2x), Right (4x), Down, Left (10x), Up (4x), Right, Down (6x), B. Once this happens just do the 24 A, 24 B button presses like the above.
