Part of me is surprised that there's no Thread in the forums for the latest installment of the series, even if there's little to no information to be had. I guess I'll just make the thread myself for what I wanted to talk about, even if it might be underwhelming for some: Legend of Zelda Wii U Rumors? From this, we've been told that: - What we've been expecting for a while now, that the newest installment will pull a Twilight Princess, and release both on Wii U and NX
- That you'll be able to choose a Male or Female Link/Avatar (could this be in response to the reaction that most people had after the first trailer for the game, in which a good chunk of people thought that this Link was a woman?)
- There will be Voice Acting in the game, sans Link
Emily Rogers has been known to be a fairly spot on in the past, with the most recent rumor she's posted being Paper Mario Wii U. I am inclined to believe her, mostly out of desire to see VA in LoZ. Ever since after Skyward Sword, I've really felt that 3D Zelda games have needed Voice Acting. I just hope that it's not just important NPCs with Voice acting, but every NPC. The Legend of Zelda is a huge IP, and Nintendo has the resource to do this, so I've never understood why people have been so adamantly against Voice Acting in the LoZ series. And using the CD-i games as an argument is a huge fallacy, despite how many times I've heard it used as a counterexample.

I generally think this is true, but to be fair we knew a Paper Mario U was in development since IS was at a career fair in Osaka in 2014.
I agree that voice acting is long overdue for Zelda, I think Hyrule Warriors should have been the debut grounds for VA in Zelda.

Kevin Cassidy from GoNintendo has pointed out that the person calling herself "Emily Rogers" in those tweets (actual Twitter handle being @arcadegirl64) is not the same Emily Rogers that's known for leaking info. However, he also said that the rumors in question have been corroborated by another source.
In other words, take with the usual grain of salt.

And based on Treehouse Live coverage...
Voice acting: check. Equipable armor: check.
Koroks = Adult Era timeline?

I like what they showed, seems like Xenoblade may have given them the jolt they needed.

Here's GoNintendo's info dump for all the bullet points. Also, most of the Treehouse Live coverage has been uploaded to Nintendo's official YouTube channel, and there's at least five hours worth of stuff to watch. It's interesting how the game is themed around technology. I was finishing up a Hero Mode playthrough of Skyward Sword all last week, and I was fascinated in the way technology was introduced in that game. It was basically like remnants of an even older civilization, and I was wondering if the Zelda series would ever revisit it and build on it. Lo and behold, Breath of the Wild is doing it in a big way, so I'm really curious to see how it plays out.

A few comments. I'm not a fan of this genre, but it's interesting to see Nintendo tackling open world exploration. - "Dark Souls!" "MGS5!" "Xenoblade X!" "Minecraft!" "Skyrim!" Actually, to me, the first thing this game reminds me of is Star Fox Adventures. Link gets to go out in the wild, collect resources, descend into shrines, and use a PDA map.
- Also like Star Fox Adventures, the graphics are great in the first sight, but flaws are easily identifiable if you're observant of game graphics artefacts. Clipping and unnatural grasses and such.
- I don't know if I like the idea of having limited equipment slots and consumable weapons and shields. What would happen if Link enters a dangerous area and runs out of ways to defend himself?
- The game is said to be the same on Wii U and NX. That's kind of disappointing. I was thinking that if the NX has VR and this game supports it, that would be a strong reason for people to get that.
- Maybe I just love being silly, but I think I could play with the magnet all day long.

Teaser sites for North America and Europe are online. There's a little more stuff on the NA site. Also, there's supposed to be something new shown at the Video Game Awards tomorrow night (December 1).

Seeing the Goron and Zora characters makes me even more disappointed with the decision to make more Link amiibo.
But the game looks great, the trailer got me hyped.

DLC confirmed, some on day one.
Not sure how I feel about this, but I'll still buy it because I'm such a fanboy.
Also, happy Valentine's Day!

The DLC is a surprise considering that BoTW is supposed to be a massive game. Really think they should have saved this announcement till late March or early April, when they say there's gonna be DLC before the game releases it just makes people think they held back content to charge for later. One of the first DLC items will be a shirt with the Switch logo on it. Gonna look weird in the Wii U version. Has anyone been avoided spoiler for this game, haven't really seen any more footage since the Jan 13th trailer, the Superbowl one and some occasional images. Finally on the topic of Valentines, from the official Zelda Twitter account.

One of the first DLC items will be a shirt with the Switch logo on it. Gonna look weird in the Wii U version. Well, it happened before. Yoshi Topsy-Turvy (Yoshi's Universal Gravitation) asks whether you use a GBA, or GBA SP or DS, for tilt sensor calibration purpose. Daroach mentions the 3DS in Kirby Mass Attack. And then there's Wii VC Wave Race 64, which retrospectively replaces Kawasaki Motors ads with Wii and Nintendo DS banners (the Wii U VC version retains the Kawasaki Motors ads). I don't think the game has been spoiled much. We still know next to nothing about this game's background events and story. I think.
