Oh man, where to start...
Remember how Kirby Mass Attack was full of HAL references? Planet Robobot did even better, being full of references to past Kirby games.
The most obvious ones are the stickers. Here's a quick, draft list:

[Note 1] Re:, EX and DX are themselves references to the extra mode bosses' prefix or suffix in Planet Robobot, Wii and Triple Deluxe respectively
[Note 2] References to: Kirby, Dedede, KDL2 partners, Kirby's Adventure, Amazing Mirror
Stickers from past games:

Special: Qbby (Box Boy!!), Dog and eggs (HAL Laboratory logo)
There are 200 stickers total, with 110+ taken from past games.
And then there are the Stone forms. Just look at this: miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYIHAAAEAAASVxb5KuFkkw
And here's one with Ultra Sword Kirby swinging a mackerel: miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYIHAAAEAAArVRTz26PBxw
Mackerels are rare among the weapons Ultra Sword Kirby would swing, by the way.
And!! There are also the bosses.
Sub-game bosses come from the older games too. Kirby 3D Rumble has Masher... and more Mashers. Team Kirby Clash had it better, with varied bosses including Gigant Sword, Mr. Frosty,
There are also tons of both unmodified and remixed music from past games. There are too many to list, but I'll just say that the catalog is huge enough to keep Kirby fans new and old (among those, both Sakurai Kirby and Shimomura Kirby) satisfied. There are 162 entries in the Sound Room! This one puts Meta Knight and Dedede together.
Also, like Triple Deluxe, at the end of Area 6-8EX you can see a single KDL1 screen (or Kirby's Adventure Stage 7-6). Of course, you can enter the moon too. There's also this cute little scene.
HAL rooms return. Also, you'll see that Haltmann's name is an intentional HAL reference when you reach the final boss fight.
Of course, fanservice alone is hardly the only reason this game is great. I'm just listing (not exhaustively) past game references here. I strongly recommend any Kirby fan to get this game.

Mackerels are rare among the weapons Ultra Sword Kirby would swing, by the way.
And!! There are also the bosses.
Let's start with Holograph Defence Systems (JP) / Holo Defense API (NA). The boss itself looks suspiciously like Pix from Kirby 64, and it fights by summoning monsters created from data given to it. Said monsters include the Ice Dragon, Sphere Doomers, Kracko and Coily Rattler.
And then there's this extra mode boss.
-------Its resemblance with Pix is not coincidental. It was built using a blueprint from a certain planet.
And then there's this extra mode boss.
After Meta Knight defeats President Haltmann, Star Dream recognises him as its new owner and offers to give him the fights he wants. It does so by summoning
Clone Dark Matter (swordsman form), Clone Sectonia, and (not clone) Galacta Knight, the last of which destroys Star Dream in one blow.
Sub-game bosses come from the older games too. Kirby 3D Rumble has Masher... and more Mashers. Team Kirby Clash had it better, with varied bosses including Gigant Sword, Mr. Frosty,
Whispy Woods, Pyribbit, Landia and Landia EX.
