Don't know how many people here are gonna care about this but it seemed like big news.
- Disney Infinity will end this year due to declining sales. As the "toy to life" genre has been getting overcrowded (Skylanders, amiibo, LEGO Dimensions) and having a downturn in sales.
- Disney will not be publishing any more games. Any staff working at Disney on game development (like Infinity) have been laid off.
- This is NOT the end of Disney related games as they will just license out their IP instead (like Star Wars to EA).

I care. I really liked Disney Infinity. Haven't bought any of the 3.0 stuff, but I was planning to when I could afford it. Those were the nicest Disney figures I've ever seen. But I guess I was way more into it for those than I was for the actual game...

Well, this sucks. My nephews really liked Disney Infinity, but I just hope those 300~ employees didn't get axed without a prior notice. Massive, company-wide layoffs are never fun to hear about.

Maybe I'm just not knowledgeable enough, but I've never heard of any other toy-coming-to-life products besides these. Are they serious about this market being overcrowded? And all these while Nintendo is still singing praises to amiibo being popular?

The big problem Disney had, was that there is so much merchandise for their characters already it made the line not as desirable as it could be. With amiibo, a lot of the characters only have an amiibo as an option, so they become desirable by default.

I'm a bit bummed, It sounded like they were ironing out licensing issues with the Marvel and Star Wars properties before the axe swung. It had such potential to replace every lame licensed game they have to shove out the door.
The Infinity toys were of incredibly high quality too.
