I haven't really talked about it here, but I really like the Shantae series, and this game has been a really longtime coming. It was Kickstarted at the exact same time as Mighty No. 9 and was supposed to be out about a year later, but here we are, and Mighty No. 9 is beating it to the punch. Half-Genie Hero is finally due out on September 27, and will also be available physically thanks to Xseed Games.
Here's this year's trailer:
EDIT: Oh, and here's Koji Igarashi playing the demo last year during the Bloodstained Kickstarter finale. (I like the part where IGA says a few words in English and catches the host off guard.)

I wish they had reached the stretch goal for full voice acting. Kinda feels incomplete without it.

According to the latest update, Half-Genie Hero is being released digitally on December 20 in both North America and Europe for all platforms, including Wii U, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. As for the physical versions, Xseed will be announcing that "shortly."

This reminds me of how Nintendo handled the Japanese releases of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, which were released on December 26.
So Nintendo isn't the only ones to release games right after Christmas, after all. But I don't think this particular game needs that kind of boost.

I haven't seen an official explanation for why the physical Wii U version is being released a week later than the PS4 and Vita versions, but I doubt it was a deliberate choice. The digital version is still being released on the 20th like all the other platforms. I would guess it's some Nintendo manufacturing thing. EDIT: Oh, yeah. Official website is online.
