If only it was an hour earlier, I'll be at work when this broadcasts.

It's 10 pm Wednesday to me, so I'll be at home. The perks of living in the east!
I think it's little more than a teaser. Also, come on, show some games and not just the hardware.

Very surprising news. I will give a look tomorrow, with no doubt!

If anyone here's interested here's a countdown timer from the Nintendo subreddit. itsalmo.st/#timeforthenxrevealIt's also been confirmed it will be a 3 minute long video. While I would recommend to keep expectations low, I just hope it has some of the features from those patents Nintendo has been putting out or is a better concept than the Wii U.

So it turns out that it's what rumours say it is. Not bad, I suppose, but I need reasons for me to prefer it over the Wii U. Other than the whole "bring your adventures outside" thing, that is.
I'll need the software lineup to really comment on this system. I like how they switched the positions of the face buttons and the right 3D stick back.
Also, I'll miss having two screens. Action game players may not realise this, but the dual screen setup is really useful in RPGs and racing games.

Interesting. Can't say I have too many deep thoughts about it at this point.
A little surprised it's still scheduled for March. I was expecting it to get pushed back to early Summer (tho, knowing Nintendo, it's not too late for that to happen).
Excited for "new" Splatoon. (Not sure if it's entirely new, or just an upgrade of the current game with customizable "hair" and pants.)
Likely no backwards compatibility since there probably won't be a disc drive in addition to the cartridge slot.
Still wondering about:
- Price? (Rumors say US$300-350 range.)
- Gyro controls? (Not likely since it wasn't shown in the video. Really bad for Splatoon.)

Man, I didn't get a WiiU, but this looks like it might end up being a party must have. Can't wait to bring Mario Kart the bar.
Kinda curious if those carts actually have the whole games on them, or if it's basically a physical storefront key.

Here's GameXplain's analysis of the hardware:
I'm wondering where you actually scan in amiibo. Surely not the screen. Somewhere on the controller? A separate accessory (a la Skylanders)?

Soon, we'll need to redefine what is Contemporary Nintendo for forum purposes. Fry? Would it be too different from the New N3DS?

Well, when it's docked, the screen is covered, so you wouldn't be able to scan anything in. The sensor would need to be accessible at all times, whether you're using the Switch as a console or a handheld.

I've been speaking to someone who has a dev kit, and he said that the screen IS a touch screen and it has built in gyro.

Well I'm happy that it looks better and more distinct than the Wii U (and can't be confused with the Wii). And the name is good with a nice understandable logo (that works well being animated) and large branding presence on the console itself. I've been speaking to someone who has a dev kit, and he said that the screen IS a touch screen and it has built in gyro. Don't think your friend should really be saying that for fear of NDA's or whatever. Nintendo still hasn't even officially confirmed if it has a touchscreen yet.

The specs are heavily NDA's, but apparently not the touch and gyro. Nintendo just wanted to focus on showing off the Switch as a new concept in the trailer.

That seems like a really strange loophole for an NDA. But at the same time can they state what type of touch screen is being used, like the Nintendo standard single resistive touch screen or is it the rumored multitouch which Emily Rogers has been mentioning? (And has been right so far). A multitouch screen would be useful considering the Joy Cons/button input can be removed.
