Kinda, maybe? As far as I can tell, all four of those games were published by, but not developed by, Nintendo. This puts them in the same position as Kirby's Dream Land, Pokemon Red/Blue...and Banjo-Kazooie. And with the exception of Takt, I have never heard of the companies responsible for those games, so I don't know who their parent companies are and whether they are subsidiaries of Nintendo or not. Takt was developed by Taito - owned by Square-Enix and thus not Nintendo - so even if the other three are Nintendo franchises Takt is still in the air, and if the other three aren't, then neither is Takt.

I've done a bit of research, and i've found a international tradenmark site called WIPO. So, Nano island Story,Takt of Magic and Spotto! have "任天堂株式会社" as IP owner witch is NINTENDO CO.LTD in japonase, couldn't find ARCHAIC SEALED HEAT,though... but i'm sure is a nintendo IP as well. Also i've searched Zekkyo (that superhero game for ds),Monster Tactics,A Kappa's trail have"任天堂株式会社" as a IP owner as well,so i'm sure these aree all Nintendo Owned IPs,i just have to look about Archaic Sealed Heat

Could you link WIPO? That could be pretty useful to have around.

WIPOArchaic Sealed Heat is also owned by Nintendo. Nintendo generally tries to keep some degree of ownership over these IP's because they take virtually all the financial risk in creating them. It's also not correct to say that Nintendo doesn't develop the games. These games are developed in partnership, for example Takt of Magic has Toru Osawa, who created Kid Icarus, as its producer.

Spotto! is made by Intelligent Systems (Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Pushmo) nearly every game made by them is published/owned by Nintendo.
And in terms of obscurity, even I don't think these are going to get mentioned in Smash, which is starting to feel more like a "who's popular/best seller at that point in time when the new Smash game is being developed". Not trying to be a downer or anything but it does feel like what is happening. The only exception seems to be any obscure character they can give a good moveset to (Mr G&W/R.O.B./Duck Hunt Duo).

(Reply to an old thread but for reference) I think sometimes a good indicator is the copyright notices on the Nintendo item(s)/and within the game. If they are attributed, they may own it (at least in the country the notice is seen) for the purpose of copyright, so it can be good to see if the notices are still there across different regions. Another good indicator is the staff credits, in which an end note will state which companies own the rights to the game, scenario (script), program, characters. However, the copyright notice does not mean they own the rights to the series as noctural YL once pointed out fryguy64.proboards.com/thread/4446/identifying-games-right-distribution so it's not always black and white like this. I believe Monster Tactics (as people have been confused on who "Spiral" is) was developed by Spiral (a subsidiary of Marigul Management in which Nintendo employed developers) according to the credits in the manual. Hope this helps. ✿
